Birmingham's St Phillip's Cathedral's started its Wrap Up Brum project , externaltoday which is aimed at providing winter clothing to those who need it.
Organisers say the appeal is for any winter clothes, including coats, gloves, scarves for both adults and children who are either homeless or in need.
Members of the public are being encouraged to take a coat if they need to or donate one if they can spare it.

Hereford FC manager Peter Beadle believes his side can beat League One Fleetwood Town in the FA Cup at the weekend.
There are four divisions separating the two sides and Beadle says they will have to be at their best to progress.
But Beadle also says that just reaching the second round is massive for the club, in its current position.

A three-year pay deal for Wyre Forest District Council staff should finally be agreed later this month, after months of negotiation with unions.
Around 300 members of staff will get pay rises of 4.25% over three years.
An agreement was only reached after a threat from Conservative councillors to impose a four-year deal, and phase out long service awards.
The agreement is now set to be approved by the full council on Thursday 14 December.

A crane has been used to deliver a new shop to a Shropshire village this morning.
People in Beckbury, near Shifnal, have been working for three years to get it installed.

Plans to expand three primary schools in Wolverhampton have been approved, external.
Loxdale, Spring Vale and Stowlawn primaries will all be permanently increased from one to two-form entry from next September - meaning each year group will feature two classes.
The expansion plans have been approved by the city council's cabinet which says the decision is to ensure there are enough school places in Wolverhampton to meet rising demand.

The speed limit on a Worcestershire road used by children to get to school has been cut to 30mph, following a long-running campaign.
The limit on Hanbury Road in Bromsgrove used to be 60mph and was initially reduced to 40mph.

Government figures show the number of people being diagnosed with HIV in the UK fell by 18% last year, compared with 2015.
But in the West Midlands, 47% of those confirmed as HIV positive were classed as late diagnoses, making them far more likely to have complications.
The hospital says it's about to roll out the scheme to test everybody, in a bid to diagnose the disease earlier.

Researchers in Birmingham have been honoured for their work, external in helping to make trains around the world safer and more efficient.
The Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education at The University of Birmingham has been given a Queen’s Anniversary Prize.
The university says it works with experts in more than 20 different countries.
Geoffrey Oborn denied 13 charges of indecent assault and one of gross indecency.
