    The closure of Shrewsbury's Quarry swimming pool has been extended by three weeks and won't be open in time for half term.

    Shropshire Council has apologised for the delay, but says it's better to get the work done now, rather than having to close the main pool again in the future.

    It closed last month after a glass panel broke and fell in the pool and workmen have taken the opportunity to give the tiles a thorough clean while it is empty.

    The revised opening date is now 26 February.

    If approved, the project will centre around the city's iconic clock tower, which will be restored in the construction.

    Once completed the university expects it to serve more than 1,500 students and staff.

    Telford's accident and emergency unit may have to close overnight next month because of safety concerns, after one of the trust's emergency consultants resigned.

    The trust which runs the Shrewsbury and Telford hospitals should have around 20 consultants but has been operating with nine, with fewer than half of those working on-call.

    Now, a letter from NHS Improvement says they need to recruit another staff doctor to replace the one who's resigned by 1 March.

    Otherwise, it says the likely result will be the overnight closures of the Princess Royal's emergency department due to safety concerns.

    The trust told the BBC they are trying to fill vacant posts but have had to put contingencies in place, just in case.

    Birmingham boxer Frankie Gavin has been forced to delay his world title fight, external after suffering an ankle injury in training.

    He was due to meet Bethuel Ushona for the IBO welterweight title at the Genting Arena later this month.

    The fight will now take place on 24 March.

    The whole world seemed to be taking pictures of the moon last night, as the rare lunar event being called the "super blue blood Moon" dazzled skywatchers.

    A group of Bristol City fans are suing West Midlands Police claiming their human rights were breached before a game against Birmingham City in September 2015.

    The 10 supporters claim they were intercepted by police officers while trying to make their way to St Andrew's stadium for a match in September 2015.

    They allege they were then put on a train back to the south west at New Street Station and eight of them were given dispersal notices.

    All 10 are are claiming false imprisonment and a breach of the European Convention of Human Rights.

    West Midlands Police says it's seeking legal advice.

    It was the battle at the bottom of the Premier League that concerned our two local sides last night.

    Stoke City moved out of the relegation zone by a point thanks to a 0-0 draw with Watford.

    Paul Lambert's men kept back-to-back Premier League clean sheets for the first time since March last year.

    But West Brom's relegation woes deepened as they lost 3-0 at Manchester City, leaving them bottom of the table and four points from safety.

    The Baggies only mustered their first effort on goal in the 88th minute after on-loan striker Daniel Sturridge was brought off the bench for his debut.

    West Midlands and Staffordshire Police are among the forces making the biggest cuts to neighbourhood policing, according to new analysis from the BBC.

    Across England and Wales, 14% of neighbourhood officer posts have disappeared since 2012.

    In the four forces in the West Midlands region, 420 neighbourhood police officer and police community support officer posts have disappeared since 2012.

    The Home Office says it's increasing police funding by £450m next year.
