    A teenager who fatally stabbed a budding male model been sentenced to a minimum of 17 years in detention.

    Ammar Kharod, 17, of Walsall Road, Aldridge, was found guilty of murder.

    The court heard he stabbed James Brindley, 26, once in the heart as Mr Brindley walked home after a night out.

    Stoke City manager Paul Lambert is challenging striker Saido Berahino to give him a selection problem.

    Lambert says Peter Crouch and Mame Diouf have both performed well in his first two games in charge while he gave Berahino a late substitute appearance on Wednesday night.

    The Potters are at Bournemouth tomorrow and the Stoke boss says he believes Berahino has all the attributes to be a good player for the club.

    The identity of a teenager convicted of fatally stabbing a budding male model in Walsall can be revealed.

    Ammar Kharod, 17, of Walsall Road, Aldridge, was found guilty yesterday of stabbing James Brindley, 26, in June.

    He had denied murder.

    Mark Brindley, James's father, said the family were "traumatised and tortured on a daily basis" by his death.

    Efforts to try to pinpoint the site of a War of the Roses battlefield are being made.

    The battle of Mortimer's Cross is thought to have taken place near Luctonians sports ground at Kingsland, Herefordshire, but nobody knows exactly where.

    It was fought on this day 547 years ago between Edward, Duke of York and Jasper and Owen Tudor.

    The Battlefields Trust , externalhas been given £80,000 by the Heritage Lottery Fund to carry out the work.

    A motorist drove the wrong way down a motorway earlier.

    The driver was spotted going along the M54 and the A5 near Telford, during the early hours.

    The driver was eventually stopped by a police stinger and was arrested.

    Worcester centre Ben Te'o will start in England's Six Nations opener against Italy in Rome on Sunday.

    He had been expected to miss the start of the championship because of his ankle problem but has made a surprise return to fitness following rehabilitation in Australia. He has been chosen ahead of Jonathan Joseph.

    Te'o has been out since mid-October and last played for England almost a year ago.

    Wasps lock Joe Launchbury is also in the starting 15.

    The inquiry into the death of a man in an industrial blast has been handed to the Health and Safety Executive.

    Aaron Johnston, 39, from Sutton Coldfield died after a cooling pipe burst at Timet UK, Witton Industrial Estate, Birmingham during the early hours of 12 December.

    West Midlands Police had been leading an inquiry but the HSE says it's now taken over.

    The executive says it's still gathering evidence and can't comment further.

    A hero police officer who died in Malvern in the 1920s is to have his grave restored.

    PC Howard Overton was killed in Malvern saving a child who had run into the road in 1928, external.

    He pushed the boy to safety but was killed when he was hit by two cars.

    Sgt Alex Denny, of West Mercia Police, is part of group raising money to restore Pc Overton's grave which is currently overgrown and part-covered with dirt.

    The 22-year-old is one of four new faces in the squad for the tournament.

    Members of one of the country's leading horticultural research centres say more should be done to save it from being sold off.

    Garden Organic, external has been based in Ryton, Warwickshire, for more than 30 years but has said the site's too expensive to run.

    They've now listed it for sale on a property website., external

    A campaign group called Save Ryton Gardens, external has been set up saying they want the sale to be stopped and the 20,000 members of the charity to be consulted to see if they can help with the finances.

    Garden Organic says running costs are stopping them from working at full potential and they're looking at all possible options to reduce cost pressures.

    A stream which has run bright orange for years is to be helped to turn to a healthier colour.

    The Serpentine flows through the old Hadley brickworks in Telford where deposits of clay and iron turn it an orange colour.

    Shropshire Wildlife Trust says it's now working to restore a reed bed system in the river and cutting back overhanging trees to let more sunlight in.

    They say their work should lead, in a few months, to the water changing to at least a less vivid orange, if not blue.
