    Firefighters have been dealing with a blaze at a warehouse near Wellesbourne airfield in Warwickshire.

    It's under control now, but traffic is being advised to avoid the area because of the amount of smoke.

  2. Ten in court over illegal bike rallypublished at 17:39 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2018

    A man has admitted his part in an illegal bike rally.

    Robert Roye, 25, from Livingstone Road, Handsworth and nine fellow defendants, aged between 20 and 33, appeared at Birmingham Magistrates' Court charged with causing public nuisance.

    It comes after "five-hour rampage" which saw an illegal bike rally tear through Birmingham and Solihull in June 2016.

    Seven of his co-defendants denied the charge, the other two have yet to formally enter a plea.

    Police have arrested 53 people on suspicion of being involved in illegal so-called ride out events and this brings the total number charged to 29.

    The rest remain on police bail awaiting a charging decision from the Crown Prosecution Service.

    The new leader of Herefordshire Council has said he'll continue to fight for more government funding, but that people have to be realistic about what's possible.

    Conservative councillor Jonathan Lester also said the authority's finances were in a good position, despite the pressure of budget cuts.

    Paul Lambert says his Stoke City side will have to be at their very best if they are to stun the Premier League leaders Manchester City on Monday night.

    Stoke are one of only three Premier League teams to score two or more goals against the champions-elect this season, but he believes they will have to take every chance they get, to stand a chance of getting a result.

    A woman who was inspired to lose weight after getting stuck in a seat on a rollercoaster at Alton Towers has won a slimmer of the year award.

    Laura Cosbie, 35, was nearly 19st (120kgs) when she got wedged in the theme park's Air ride.

    The mother-of-two, from Leicester, admitted to being "mortified" when it took three men to free her.

    Now weighing under 10st (63kgs) and having gone from size 24 to size 10, she has taken the Slimming World title.

    The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust is no longer at the bottom of the accident and emergency waiting times list.

    All 133 NHS trusts in England are rated on the number of patients they see within four hours and the two hospitals are now rated fourth from bottom.

    Birmingham’s nine Labour MPs have written to the chief executive of the Legal Aid Agency calling on him to reverse its decision to refuse Legal Aid to the families of 10 of the victims of the Birmingham pub bombings.

    They are fighting a coroner's decision that IRA suspects will not be named at new inquests into the 1974 attacks.

    Lawyers presenting the coroner’s case will be publicly funded but, after the Legal Aid Agency’s decision, the families will be denied equivalent funding to present their case.

    A Wolverhampton home, caring for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties, has a high level of violence and sexualised behaviour, an inspection has found., external

    Ofsted inspectors visited the unamed site, run by Cambian Childcare, in February. They found staff were often off sick.

    A recent "serious" incident "led to the arrest of two young people and complaints of sexual and physical assault from two members of staff", the report said.

    The home was rated as "requires improvement".

    Telford Tigers head coach Tom Watkins says he plans to give up playing after Sunday's home game against Nottingham Lions.

    He was semi-retired going into this season and said he hadn't planned to play at all, but was forced into action on a number of occasions because of a shortage of players.

    Now, he says he wants to bow out on home ice after a career of more than 20 years and that "it will be fun to be out there with the boys for one last time".
