    A West Midlands milkman says he has no plans to retire, despite spending 40 years on the job.

    Cliff Foxworthy used to help out on his local round when he was 11 but has been a milkman since he was 20.

    He currently has more than 500 customers on his round in Knowle.

    "When I first walked into the diary, someone said 'it'll never last'," he said, "but it has."

    Car registrations plunged in March, according to figures from industry body the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

    Coventry-based Jaguar sold almost 6,800 cars last month - a 29% drop in the numbers from March 2017.

    Land Rover did slightly better - seeing sales fall by 26%, with more than 16,600 vehicles driving off forecourts.

    But the luxury car-maker Aston Martin, based in Warwickshire, saw the second-biggest drop in the UK - with 46% fewer sales in March 2018 compared to the same month last year.

  4. Hostel murders accused 'of unsound mind'published at 13:25 British Summer Time 5 April 2018

    A man accused of murdering Derbyshire backpacker Mia Ayliffe-Chung, from Wirksworth, and Tom Jackson, from Congleton, Cheshire, in an Australian hostel will not stand trial after he was ruled as being of "unsound mind".

    Psychiatrists told a court in Australia that Smail Ayad was suffering from paranoid schizophrenia.

    Mr Ayad, a French national, had been charged with a total of 16 offences.

    The 30-year-old was remanded to a mental health facility after appearing at the Mental Health Court in Brisbane.

    Oh deer - this stag looks at first glance like he's wearing a novelty wig, but it's actually mesh caught in his antlers, along with fence wire.

    The RSPCA received reports at the start of the month over a stuck stag near Kingswood Lakeside, Cannock.

    The charity said officers sedated the animal in the bid to free him, but had to remove his antlers as the netting was too tangled to unpick and cut away.

    An escaped pet snake trapped in the owner's kitchen was reported to police in Warwickshire today.

    Tweeting about the incident, external, the force issued a reminder to the public to think before calling on its services.

    The communications centre passed the caller a number for a local vet.

    Stoke-on-Trent cyclist Kian Emadi had to settle for silver at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast this morning.

    A heater's being blamed for producing, external "dangerously high levels" of carbon monoxide inside a house where a woman died.

    Staffordshire Fire and Rescue service says she's been named as 73-year-old Gwendal Stanley. It added a man, 75, who was also in the home on Old Penkridge Road in Cannock, remained in a critical condition in hospital.

    The death, on Tuesday, is not being treated as suspicious.

    In a statement, the fire service said a downstairs heater was believed "responsible for the dangerously high levels of carbon monoxide within the home".

    A serving Staffordshire Police officer has been charged with misuse of police systems offences, the force says., external

    Michelle Denne, 44, who's based at Cannock police station, is due to appear before magistrates in Birmingham later following an investigation into allegations of breaches of the Data Protection Act.
