    A taxi driver's been ordered to pay more than £1,000 in fines and costs after he was found guilty of refusing to take a woman in a wheelchair.

    Mohammed Butt, 56, of Wellesley Street, Stoke-on-Trent, turned down Bal Deol in her motorised wheelchair at Hanley Bus Station in August last year.

    He'd denied refusing to drive when requested by a passenger at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre but was convicted of the offence.

    A woman's been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, external after a man was stabbed several times on a street in Stoke-on-Trent.

    The victim suffered knife wounds to his arm and back, police say, and is in a stable condition today in hospital.

    The attack happened on Fenpark Road at about 02:30 this morning and the 37-year-old woman from Malvern remains in custody.

    Celebrations will start with a private civic reception before the Championship trophy is paraded through the city centre.

    About 30,000 fans are expected at the ticketed park event where manager Nuno Espirito Santo and players will address the crowd and show off the trophy.

    Tickets for the park event are free, but limited to four per person, with further details set to be announced on Monday.

    A couple from Worcestershire are recovering from their shock after the arrival of a baby boy they weren't expecting. , external

    Scott Page and Laura Webb from Worcester arrived at the Worcestershire Royal's A&E on Monday thinking Laura needed treatment for a pain in her body.

    A few hours later they were celebrating the birth of their first child Jacob, shortly before the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth.

    Scott told BBC Hereford and Worcester they had no idea Laura was pregnant until a nurse asked, "are you ready to have your baby?"

    "Laura said 'what?' and I said 'what?'."

    He said Laura had been receiving a contraceptive injection, had felt no kicking from the baby and "had no cravings, no morning sickness".

    A man who admitted causing the deaths of two young brothers in a hit-and-run crash in Coventry is due to be sentenced today.

    Corey, six, and Casper Platt-May, two, were on a family trip to the park when they were hit by Robert Brown's car.

    Brown, of Attwood Crescent, Wyken, admitted causing the deaths by dangerous driving on 22 February.

    The 53-year-old was jailed for six months in November last year for possessing a machete and had been let out on licence just six days before the collision.

    A mental health trust in the West Midlands has contacted pest control officers hundreds of times over a two-year period, new figures show.

    Leaking roofs, broken sewage pipes and pests are putting NHS patients and staff at risk, Labour has warned.

    Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health trust said it had contacted pest control 777 times between 2015 and 2017.

    A Department of Health and Social Care spokesperson said it wanted patients to receive "world-class care in world-class facilities".

    They said the government had "recently announced one of the largest infrastructure investments in NHS history - £760m for major projects including new buildings, wards and beds".
