    A council is being blamed after a gig was cancelled in the town park last night.

    The musical theatre group Collabro failed to show up for the Place In The Park, external event in Telford.

    They posted on their Facebook page, external that they felt technical issues were to blame "beyond our control" and said fans would be "properly recompensed".

    But Telford and Wrekin Council on their Facebook page, external said they "do not fully agree with" Collabro's statement, apologised for the cancellation and said fans would get "full refunds".

    Many people vented their frustration on social media:

    Karen Turner posted, external: "Totally disorganized, very poor communication. A lot of angry and disappointed people."

    Hannah Louise Roberts wrote, external: "Not happy - drove all the way from Cardiff for this. Booked a hotel solely for this concert for my birthday only to be stood outside In the cold for 90 minutes and sent packing."

    Patricia Brown wrote, external: "t seems odd to me that there have been concerts and Shows in Telford at the big top for the whole of August. Nobody else has had a problem performing. These included Russell Watson, Boyzlife, and many more."

    But Karen Abbott Jaco added, external: "What a lovely apology. They had no choice! They always give us there best; even sick they perform."

    Wasp nests are keeping pest controllers five times as busy across the UK, according to experts.

    "Pest controllers usually remove two to three nests a day but at the moment our members are being called to deal with 10 to 15 a day," said Natalie Bungay, technical officer at the British Pest Control Association (BPCA).

    Telford and Wrekin Council is among authorities that have noted arise in the amount of calls about wasps, external.

    But it advised councils could not get involved in wasp removal unless the infestation was on open public land, so if you have a wasp nest in your home or garden you must call in the professionals.

    A consultation ends today, external on a plan to create a clean air zone charge on high-polluting vehicles entering Birmingham city centre.

    Thousands of people have already responded to the proposal which includes a levy of up to £12 a day for some cars and £100 a day for some heavy goods vehicles travelling within the city's inner ring road.

    A huge grassland fire at a beauty spot in the Staffordshire Moorlands was caused by a camp-fire which got out of control, the fire service has revealed., external

    Fire crews were first called on Thursday 9 August to the Roaches in Upper Hulme and have been there ever since, fighting a fire which spread over 200 acres of land.

    Today, they say their investigation found a fire pit which had been built out of rocks and local residents told them people had been wild camping in the area and built a fire.

    The service says it looks like they'd tried to cover the fire with more rocks to put it out but it had spread across the dry countryside.

    West Midlands Police is celebrating, external 100 years since recruiting its first female officer in Birmingham.

    The force is running a, external "lock-up evening" which gives a tour of its history and its former base on Steelhouse Lane.

    The Steelhouse Lane site was in use from 1891 to 2016 and many of the original Victorian features are still present.

    The Grade II listed building was described as a "mini prison" in a busy city centre for well over a century.

    There'll be no trains to or from Euston over the next three weekends.

    This closure will effect passengers across the Midlands including Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International, Crewe, Coventry, Stafford, Stoke-on-Trent and Rugby.

    The London station's closed due to Network Rail replacing the North Wembley Junction, meaning the entire line is being closed.

    Birmingham Bears hopes of reaching the T20 Blast Quarter Finals are all but over after rivals Yorkshire beat Northants last night.

    The Bears needed to beat already-qualified Worcestershire in the derby at Edgbaston tonight and hoped Yorkshire's match against Nottinghamshire was either rained off or ended in a tie.

    Birmingham singer songwriter Laura Mvula has been paying tribute to the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin who died yesterday at the age of 76.

    The Mercury-nominated musician has previously spoken openly about her love of gospel music and its inspiration on her career, as she grew up with in her home city.

    More homes should be built on a a military base when it closes, a government body says.

    Clive Barracks, in Ternhill, near Market Drayton, is due to close in 2022 under plans by the Ministry of Defence.

    A new Stoke Upon Tern Neighbourhood Plan has earmarked the site for 500 homes.

    However, the Defence Infrastructure Organisation suggests it can accommodate more than 600 homes.

    Firefighters are dealing with a fire at a factory in Birmingham this morning.

    West Midlands Fire says the blaze at the site, external on Balitmore Road in Perry Barr is now being scaled down, after six pumps attended earlier this morning.

    The fire is said to have involved an industrial oven at a factory that makes tools.

    The A45 in Birmingham is being used to trial a new traffic lights system that tells motorists when lights ahead of them will change via a smart phone app.

    The system is designed to reduce pollution and congestion in cities.

    The app lets drivers know when they're approaching green or red lights and is said to encourage them to adjust their speed as they approach a junction.

    A plan to convert a Birmingham tower block into emergency accommodation for hundred of homeless families is set to be approved.

    Barry Jackson Tower in Aston was due to be demolished, but Birmingham City Council wants to use it to house some of the 2,000 people currently living in interim housing, such as B&Bs.

    About 400 residents signed petitions against the scheme, saying it would increase anti-social behaviour.

    The council says the temporary residents would not pose a risk.
