    A woman's been airlifted to hospital after fire crews cut her free from the scene of a crash. , external

    Two cars and a lorry collided, the ambulance service says, on the A41 in Higher Heath, near Whitchurch, Shropshire, at around 14:30.

    They say the woman, in her 40s, was driving one of the cars and has suffered arm and pelvic injuries.

    The driver of the other car, a man in his 40s, was treated for minor injuries and taken to hospital.

    Shropshire Council says, external the A41 between Tern Hill and the Prees Heath roundabouts is likely to be closed for some time.

    Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 39-year-old man was discovered at a flat in Walsall on Wednesday.

    The men, both aged 21, were arrested this morning in the town, West Midlands Police said, external

    Today the force also named the deceased as Kevin Shepperson.

    The 39-year-old was found in a flat on Bloxwich Road South in Willenhall, just before 12:30 on Wednesday.

    Jaguar Land Rover has approved production of an electric version of its E-type sports car.

    The vehicles will be converted at its factory in Coventry, with the first deliveries planned for the summer of 2020.

    The company says the revamped cars will handle just like the original petrol version.

    The car was thrown into the spotlight earlier this year when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle drove to their evening wedding reception in a Concept Zero model.

  4. Legionella bacteria found in hotel's water samplespublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 24 August 2018

    Wolverhampton city council has served a prohibition notice on a hotel following concerns related to its water management system and the discovery of legionella bacteria in samples taken.

    The Ramada Park Hall Hotel and Spa has been prohibited from using its hot and cold water systems until remedial works have been carried out, the city council said.

    Hotel bosses have also chosen to close it to overnight guests until further notice.

    We're being warned to expect it to be busy on the roads and rails this bank holiday weekend.

    People travelling between Birmingham International, Coventry and Rugby will see bus replacement services due to engineering works taking place.

    This is in addition to the second consecutive weekend closure of the West Coast Main Line heading to Euston.

    Nearly £20,000 was spent on printing public reports last year by Birmingham City Council, prompting a move to axe all hard copy agendas.

    The council is aiming to go paperless by November.

    Bells at a church aren't going to be rung for 12 months - in case they damage a ceiling.

    Congleton Town Council says restoration work's under way at St Peter's Church, Chapel Street, after £291,000 was raised for repairs. , external

    The council says it has had to replace most of the wood after discovering the 18th Century timbers were riddled with woodworm.

    Following repairs the ceiling will be coated in lime plaster but, as that type of plaster needs a year to set, the bells will be silence as it's feared vibrations from them ringing could cause it to crack and damage.

    A new system to let road users submit footage of dangerous driving is saving police officers hours of time, a police and crime commissioner says.

    The scheme was launched last month using a platform set up by a dashcam manufacturer.

    The website allows visitors to upload videos before sending footage to the right police force.

    People are being urged not to leave disposable barbecues lying around in the countryside in Staffordshire.

    The fire service says it's had several cases recently, including this week, at the Roaches, external and Chasewater Country Park, external, near Burntwood, of the tinfoil containers still smouldering.

    It says they can easily reignite and cause serious devastation across the countryside.

  17. Man jailed for Class A drugs offencespublished at 11:15 British Summer Time 24 August 2018

    A 19-year-old from Leicester's been jailed for drugs offences in Stratford.

    Abdul Rahman, of Keightley Road, pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to two counts of possession with intent to supply cocaine and two counts of possession with intent to supply heroin at Warwick Crown Court.

    He's now been jailed for two years.
