    Hundreds of trees which were part of an exhibition to mark 100 years since World War One are being prepared for planting as a permanent new woodland.

    Lichfield Cathedral hosted the event last month called The Great Exhibition: Imagine Peace, external, which included 1,918 small trees for visitors to walk through.

    With the exhibition over, organisers say the trees are now at Beacon Park, being prepared for planting on Armistice Day, 11 November. , external

    Health bosses have approved a £3.6m bid to install a new 24-bed temporary ward at Hereford County Hospital.

    The Wye Valley NHS Trust says it'll be built in time for Christmas and situated next to the emergency department. , external

    They say it'll allow staff to assess patients quickly and ease pressure on services during the winter.

    The hospital has seen an increase in the number of patients it sees in its emergency department, rising from 190 per week in 2016 to 250 per week this year.

    Earlier, National Rail Enquiries said it had happened between Coleshill Parkway and Nuneaton - replacement bus services have been running along the route.

    It adds that trains will either be cancelled or diverted via alternative routes.

    Police say they stopped the vehicle on Pool Lane, Burntwood, Staffordshire, just after midnight. , external

    They believe the drugs are cannabis and two men, both from the West Midlands, were arrested on weapon, drug and driving offences.

    Dairy farmers in the West Midlands say government plans to reward them for going green, could affect milk production.

    The government says the newly published UK Agriculture Bill is aimed at delivering a "green Brexit" and a "smooth and gradual transition".

    UK Environment Secretary Michael Gove says the bill will "allow us to reward farmers who protect our environment, leaving the countryside in a cleaner, greener and healthier state for future generations".

    But farmers at an event called UK Dairy Day in Telford told the BBC they were facing other challenges as well as looking after the environment and called for more clarity.

    A man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a man died in a two-car crash in Wolverhampton last month.

    The 23-year-old victim was a passenger in a VW Golf that was in a collision with a BMW in Finchfield Road died.

    The 28-year-old suspect from Wolverhampton has also been charged with driving with no licence and driving with no insurance.

    He is due to appear at Birmingham Crown Court next month.

    The two adults and two children in the BMW suffered minor injuries and were taken to New Cross Hospital.

    A river which all but disappeared due to the heatwave this summer now appears to be recovering, according to the Environment Agency.

    Back in July, hundreds of salmon, trout and other fish had to be rescued from the upper River Teme in north Herefordshire as it completely dried out in the space of just a few days.

    But this week, the agency says a check on the river near Leintwardine found dozens of salmon and trout back in the area, external, "indicating a healthy river".

    An MP has called for the high speed rail project HS2 to be scrapped, calling it a "dying white elephant" and "fundamentally flawed".

    Sir Bill Cash, who represents Stone, told a Westminster Hall debate that it is causing great anxiety for people living near the proposed route.

    The route of the project, between Birmingham and Crewe, takes it through Staffordshire.

    World and Olympic champion Adam Peaty has called on organisations to keep sports facilities open "to support the next generation".

    The 23-year-old from Uttoxeter made the comments as he opened a swimming pool at Sandon Primary Academy in Stoke-on-Trent.

    Peaty is the current 100m breaststroke Olympic champion and world recorder holder, as well as a World, European and Commonwealth Champion.

    The mother of Stephen Sutton has taken part in a wing-walk in Gloucestershire this afternoon to raise money for a charity dedicated to her son, Stephen's Story.

    The 19-year-old from Burntwood in Staffordshire died in 2014 from bowel cancer and shared his life and "bucket list" of things he wanted to achieve before he died.

    More than £5.5m has been raised since his death and has been spent on funding the refurbishment and creation of cancer units at hospitals across the country.
