The West Midlands police and crime commissioner is meeting the Home Secretary later to call for a greater share of government money to be spent on policing in the region.
It was revealed yesterday by the National Audit Office that the force has seen the second largest cut of any in its funding over the past eight years.
Quote MessageI have put £2m into reducing violence, particularly among young people. I'm going to ask the Home Secretary to match that money, will he give us something that we can get to grips with these problems and prevent that crime from happening - that's the sort of work that we're doing far less of now than we ever were in the past."
David Jamieson, West Midlands police and crime commissioner
