    The full closure of the M6 northbound in Warwickshire has been lifted, after a fatal crash earlier today.

    A 27-year-old man died after two cars and a lorry were in collision on the motorway between J2 and J3.

    Warwickshire Police had previously reported the man was in his 40s.

    The driver of a Ford Focus was declared dead at the scene, said the force.

    The Institute of Fiscal Studies says that while house prices in England have risen by 173% over two decades, the average pay for 25-34 year-olds has grown by just 19% over the same period.

    In 1996, 93% of those with a deposit who borrowed four and a half times their salary could purchase a home but that fell to 61% in 2016.

    The number of wildfires this summer in the West Midlands was more than double the previous year's figure, according to new data.

    The Press Association asked every fire service for the total number of fires on grassland, woodland and crops over May, June and July across the past five years.

    For every fire service in the West Midlands, the number fell in 2016 but then rose to a regional total of 1,158 cases in 2017, before leaping up even further this year to 2,884.

    West Midlands Fire Service saw the largest increase of 180% with 1,801 wildfires this year, of which 945 were started deliberately.

    Staffordshire saw 533 wildfires this summer, up from 212 in 2017.

    An elderly man's suffered a serious head injury after being hit by a car.

    It happened on Saturday afternoon on Butterfield Place, Stoke-on-Trent, near to Tunstall market, police say.

    The 82-year-old man was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

    The UK's first trial of 5G mobile signal started over the weekend, with EE promising lightning fast speeds.

    Apparently a full HD film would take 40 seconds to download on 5G, compared with more than seven minutes on 4G.

    However, some parts of the West Midlands are struggling to receive a phone signal at all, let alone 3G, which was launched as long ago as 2003, or 4G.

    EE chief executive Marc Allera told the BBC's Wake Up to Money that 4G was now available across 90% of the UK geographically, but he recognised there were still places that were missing out.

    The move away from weekly collections will be rolled-out across the area between 22 October and Christmas, it said.

    Residents in the first phase will start receiving information packs from today.

    The garden waste collection service will end when the new collection service starts, with a paid-for option starting in February 2019.

    The council said it's working to make the transition "as smooth as possible", with the changes brought in, it said, due to "significant budget cuts from central government".

    Lat month, a Welsh council became the first in England and Wales to introduce monthly bin collections, although the move attracted plenty of criticism.

    A convicted rapist who leapt from the dock and ran out of court moments after being convicted has handed himself in to police.

    Last week, jurors at Worcester Crown Court unanimously convicted Bradley Tout, 20, of an attack on a teenage girl, in December 2016.

    Upon hearing the verdict, Tout "vaulted" from the dock and was able to evade court officers during a chase.

    At a sentencing hearing after his escape, Tout, of Durham Road, Worcester, was jailed for seven and a half years in his absence.

    Two boys, aged 15 and 17, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, after a man was stabbed during an attempted car-jacking.

    A 15-year-old girl was also arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to rob, after the incident in Selly Oak, Birmingham yesterday.

    The 22-year-old man is in a critical condition after being chased and stabbed in in his chest and stomach, said West Midlands Police.

    Det Insp Caroline Corfield said: “This is a shocking incident which has left a young man seriously ill in hospital.

    “We believe the same offenders attacked a group in Selly Hill Road earlier in the day."
