    Michael Fabricant, who represents Lichfield for the Conservatives, says he's launching a campaign to make it an annual event.

    He says he hopes to raise £6m a year to support St Giles Hospice, based in the city.

    Mr Fabricant hasn't said when the ride would happen but is urging people to show their support by contacting him on Twitter.

    The hospice says it's grateful for his support, saying a naked cycle ride "is definitely one of the more unusual events".

    The authority says it's had more than 500 names suggested since October and has whittled them down to 48 names.

    From today, it's now asking people to vote on a final 24, having already named one gritter after Zac Oliver, the four-year-old from Broseley with a rare strain of leukaemia., external

    Voting closes this Friday at 09:00, external and the council says the winning names will be announced later that day.

    He was outside the Taj Mahal restaurant on Bridge Road, Telford, on Saturday afternoon when police say he was assaulted.

    Officers say he suffered several injuries to his face.

    Stoke City boss Gary Rowett has questioned whether referees should have the power to dismiss managers after being sent off in the defeat by his former club Birmingham City.

    But, just four minutes later, at the other end, Adams appeared to keep out Joe Allen's goal-bound effort with his right arm - and Rowett was sent off by referee Roger East for protesting against the decision before being escorted down the tunnel.

    Preparations are being made for the possible arrival of wild boar on the Malvern Hills.

    In a report drawn up by the Malvern Hills Trust, , externalofficials say there already large numbers of the animals currently in the Forest of Dean and there is anecdotal evidence of a small number near Newent, 13 miles way.

    They say they're going to now start monitoring for wild boar as they reckon the area could support about 60 of them.

    But the report adds that, if there turns out to be a large and growing wild boar population in the area, they may have to carry out "active management" which could include culling them.

    A petrol station worker has been stabbed in the arm by a customer, West Midlands Police said.

    It happened at Heath Service Station on Lichfield Road, Walsall at about 16:45 on Saturday.

    The member of staff, a man in his late 20s, saw a man filling his car. Believing he was preparing to drive off without paying, the worker went and challenged him.

    The driver pulled an object from his back pocket, which he used to stab the member of staff in the arm and scrape his head.

    He then got into his car and drove off without paying.

    The victim suffered a small puncture wound to his arm and a scratch to the back of his head, and was treated in hospital.

    The force is appealing for witnesses.

    A teacher whose stammered since childhood is running a support group for pupils who also suffer with it.

    Maths teacher Abed Ahmed helps students at Washwood Heath Academy in Birmingham.

    Today is International Stammering Awareness Day and he was once told he'd never be able to teach due to his speech impediment, but he says he's turned his stammer into a way of supporting children.

  9. Richard Helm: Sixth murder arrestpublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 22 October 2018

    A sixth man has been arrested in connection with the death of father-of-four Richard Helm.

    Mr Helm was stabbed to death in Raven Crescent, in Ashmore Park, Wolverhampton at about 05:15 on 12 October.

    The 37-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The arrested man, aged 31, remains in custody, West Midlands Police said.

    Five men were previously arrested on suspicion of murder, two were released with no further action and three were released on police bail.

    West Mercia Police says , externalofficers were called to the A449 at Hartlebury, between Kidderminster and Worcester, just after 11:00.

    Drivers are being warned of delays in the area , externaland are being urged to take alternative routes.

    Berger also saved at the feet of Fran Kirby and tipped over a Ji header as Chelsea created the better chances.

    A road's been blocked in the centre of Shrewsbury after police say a delivery van crashed through a shop window.

    Officers say it happened on Wyle Cop just before 11:00 and the vehicle appears to have hit the Bottega store.

    Shrewsbury Police tweeted, external to say the route would be shut "for a while" to remove the van and check the building for structural damage.

    Two men have been charged with attempted murder after an 18-year-old was stabbed in Hereford on Friday night.

    The victim needed hospital treatment after police were called to Addison Court near Edgar Street.

    Today, the force says a 32-year-old and a 33-year-old, both from Hereford, were charged with attempted murder and robbery.

    The 33-year-old was also charged with possession of a knife.
