    A new group set up to tackle business crime in Birmingham spotted a criminal with £6,000 of stolen goods during the first hour of a trial run, external, organisers claim.

    Led by Retail BID, they say the not-for-profit City Safe scheme has been launched today specifically to take on business-related offences.

    The business improvement district says its members are getting more concerned about the issue and 45 organisations have signed up to be part of a radio network to share information, which will be monitored by police.

    Three men wearing balaclavas and carrying a gun have forced their way into a house in Nuneaton and robbed the people inside.

    Warwickshire Police said it happened at a home on Edgedale Road just after 20:15 yesterday and the raiders left with six watches.

    The force said they escaped in a black BMW.

    A man arrested in connection with the murder of a father-of-four who was stabbed to death in Wolverhampton has been told he will face no further action.

    Richard Helm (pictured), 37, was pronounced dead after police were called to Raven Crescent, in Ashmore Park, at about 05:15 on 12 October.

    Two men have been charged with his murder, as well as other offences.

    Three other men had been arrested and released on bail - two of them have had their bail extended until January while the third has been released with no more action taken, police confirmed today.

    A family has been reunited with their missing pet pug, , externalafter police stopped a van in the early hours of this morning.

    Officers say the seven-month-old dog, called Alastor, was found in the back of the van on Park Road, Featherstone, Staffordshire, along with a knife.

    They say the pet was stolen earlier this week and 20,000 people shared an appeal by his owners in Codsall for his return on social media.

    A 41-year-old man from Middlewich has been arrested on suspicion of theft and possessing an offensive weapon, and remains in custody.

    It happened on 15 October when officers say a woman was approached by a man at the West Bromwich Central stop.

    They add that he then touched her inappropriately and she screamed, leading to other passengers chasing him off.

    The force says it thinks the man in the image could help them with their investigation.

    Fans of the BBC TV show Peaky Blinders have been turning out in Stoke-on-Trent to try and get a glimpse of the stars.

    That's because Middleport Pottery in the city's been used yesterday and today, external as a location for filming for series five of the drama.

    The show, set in the lawless streets of 1920s Birmingham, finished its fourth season in December and will move to BBC One for the next series.

    Fans were kept away from seeing too much of what was being filmed at Middleport, although I did catch a glimpse of actors Paul Anderson, Aidan Gillen and Ned Dennehy.

    A footballer's been found guilty of attacking a woman after meeting her at a club.

    The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) says Riccardo Calder, who plays for Caledonian Thistle, had dropped the victim at her car after meeting her in May at the club in Kings Heath, Birmingham.

    While following him, she collided with the back of his car and he got out, punched her repeatedly through her open window and, when she got out, kicked her and swung a shoe at her.

    The CPS says she was left with a broken thumb, bruising and a cut lip.

    Calder, 22, from Denholme Grove, Kings Heath, had pleaded not guilty, but was convicted of assault at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court and will be sentenced in December.

    Stourport High School in Worcestershire has been forced to close for the rest of the week, because thieves broke in overnight and stole more than 60 metres of cabling.

    Computers, fire alarms and telephones have all been affected and staff say they're working around the clock to sort the problem.
