    Police say the break-in at the Dougie Mac warehouse on Federation Road industrial estate, Stoke-on-Trent, happened between Sunday afternoon and this morning.

    As well as taking money, the force says the burglars also damaged equipment.

    The charity has branded the offenders as "heartless and immoral".

    Coventry City Council has been shortlisted in the Council of the Year category for the Local Government Chronicle (LGC) Awards.

    The announcement comes as it's revealed complaints to the local authority rose to an all-time high last year.

    The Local Government Ombudsman received 136 complaints for the period April 2017 to March 2018, up 29.5%.

    The figure is also the highest percentage of complaints upheld since 2005, and higher than any other in the West Midlands Combined Authority.

    A search for clues behind the murder of estate agent Suzy Lamplugh will resume tomorrow morning.

    Ms Lamplugh, from London, was 25 when she disappeared in 1986 and declared dead, presumed murdered, in 1994, although a body has never been found.

    Police had returned for a second week to search the back garden of the former home of the prime suspect's mother in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham.

    This evening, forensic specialists finished work and confirmed they would return tomorrow morning.

    The Spice Girls will play Coventry's Ricoh Arena as part of a comeback tour of UK stadiums.

    Victoria Beckham, however, is not expected to take part.

    Jess Glynne will join the band as a "very special guest" at the Coventry date on 3 June.

    Officers say they were called to Weston Road, Stoke-on-Trent, on 14 July to reports of a man forcing a woman to perform a sex act.

    Scott Onions, from Mollison Road, denied rape, saying the victim had consented.

    But the 40-year-old was found guilty and jailed for seven years, as well as being placed on the sex offenders' register for life.

    Tonight, Inside Out West Midlands is featuring the stories of three VC winners during the conflict on BBC One, including John Henry Carless from Walsall.

    He was just 21 when he won the medal in the navy on the HMS Caledon. His gun placement suffered a direct hit but he kept firing at enemy ships before succumbing to fatal wounds.

    A head teacher whose academy trust was once praised by former Prime Minister David Cameron has been been banned from teaching after found guilty of professional misconduct.

    Liam Nolan was executive head teacher, CEO and accounting officer at Perry Beeches The Academy Trust in Birmingham until he resigned in May 2016.

    After financial irregularities were discovered at the chain in 2015 it emerged he'd been drawing a second salary from a private company contracted to his own schools.

    It's now been decided he can't teach for at least two years and will have to apply to be able to teach again.

    The One Stop in Weddington Road was targeted betweek 22:39 and 22:59 by men with their faces covered, said Warwickshire Police.

    Staff, who were just locking up the store, were threatened before the men made off with a quantity of cash and cigarettes.

    Officers are calling for any witnesses to come forward.

  13. Woman taken to hospital after M69 crashpublished at 15:56 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2018

    A woman has been taken to hospital after having to be cut free from a car involved in a crash on the M69 in Warwickshire.

    Warwickshire Fire Service said it took around an hour to free the woman, using hydraulic cutting equipment after being called to the area at 12:47.

    The road has now reopened between J1 and J2.

    It was on Friday afternoon when police were called to the collision on the A530, Whitchurch Road, in Newhall.

    A 63-year-old woman from Nantwich, who was a passenger in the car, died at the scene.

    The driver of the car, a 66-year-old man, also from Nantwich, was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital by air ambulance, but later died.
