    A rapist who leapt from the dock and ran out of court moments after being convicted has had his prison sentence extended by six months.

    It happened last month, after jurors at Worcester Crown Court unanimously convicted Bradley Tout, 20, of an attack on a teenage girl, in December 2016.

    Upon hearing the verdict, Tout, of Durham Road, Ronkswood, "vaulted" from the dock and was able to evade court officers during a chase.

    He handed himself in four days later and today pleaded guilty to a charge of escaping from lawful custody, with the judge giving him a six-month consecutive jail term.

    Back in June, daytime TV drama Doctors filmed one of its biggest stunts.

    The dramatic car crash was filmed in a field near the village of Alvechurch, Worcestershire.

    Three of the show's regular characters were in the car and today viewers get to find out what happens when the episode airs at 13:45 on BBC One.

    The creator of Peaky Blinders has confirmed his vision for a Birmingham film studio could be operational in as little as two years.

    Steven Knight said there was no need for a "post-mortem" around Channel 4's decision to relocate its headquarters from London to Leeds – and not the second city.

    Speaking to a meeting of professionals involved in the failed bid, he said his Mercian studios plan, to be built near the NEC, was "not close to the line, we’re on the line, we need to push it over".

    He revealed he had held talks with the likes of Netflix and other international producers in recent days stating they were keen to come to Birmingham simply because they were desperate for purpose-built, practical studio space.

    Coventry City manager, Mark Robins has been named as the League One Manager of the Month, for October.

    City won five consecutive league games in October, for the first time since 1998, beating Charlton Athletic, Wycombe Wanderers, Southend, Bradford City and Doncaster Rovers.

    The club sits level on points for the final play-off place.

    A hospital boss says it's important staff (and potential staff) are not frightened off now it has been put into special measures.

    The latest move, revealed by the government yesterday, means Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is no longer trusted to run itself alone.

    The trust was already reporting to a watchdog over maternity and emergency services care at both Royal Shrewsbury and The Princess Royal hospitals.

    A former soldier, who lost his leg while serving in Afghanistan has helped raise thousands of pounds for veterans charities - saying he wants to help those who have "given up everything for this country."

    Matt Wilson, from Much Birch in Herefordshire, was also left with a badly damaged arm after stepping on an IED while serving in Afghanistan.

    He said his thoughts on Remembrance Sunday would be with his friends killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as his paratrooper father killed in Northern Ireland.

    Worcestershire all-rounder Moeen Ali's finished as the leading wicket-taker in the first Test between England and Sri Lanka.

    Across both innings, he took eight wickets, one more than the home side's Dilruwan Perera, as England won by 211 runs.

    However, the visitors will be considering where he bats for the next Test as, at the key batting position of number three, Moeen made just three runs in two innings in this match.

    HMS Forward, the Royal Navy’s Midlands Reservist training centre, has been officially awarded the honour of "Freedom of Entry" to the city of Wolverhampton at a specially convened full council meeting.

    The privilege, which is the services equivalent of being made an honorary freeman or freewoman of the city, was bestowed on the local naval flagship by the Wolverhampton City Council Leader.

    Based in Birmingham, the centre employs more than half of its recruits from Wolverhampton and serves the five counties of the Midlands.

    The council granted the honour in recognition of HMS Forward’s services to the city over the years.

    The former Aston Villa Chairman died last month at the age of 94.

    The private service is due to take place at Aston parish church this morning, with the cortege expected to pass the football ground.

    A spending freeze announced by a local council has been described as a "total mess" by an opposition councillor.

    In September, Shropshire Council revealed it was already predicting an £6.8m overspend on its gross budget of £561.95m for this financial year.

    Staff are being asked to work from home on the last Friday of every month, and from January council buildings will shut at noon every Friday.

    In January 2018 spent £51m to buy three shopping centres in Shrewsbury.

    The Conservative-run authority's leader Peter Nutting today said the increased cost of supporting vulnerable people was likely to cost £5m more this year than had been budgeted. , external

    He says the local authority will try to minimise the impact of the spending freeze on front-line services.

    Worcestershire all-rounder Moeen Ali's passed a milestone this morning for England, taking his 150th Test wicket.

    The 31-year-old might have had a miserable time with the bat, making just three from both innings, but he's been taking wickets this morning against Sri Lanka.

    Moeen chipped in with England's second wicket this morning, taking him to 150 wickets, when he caught Dimuth Karunaratne off his own bowling.

    Three men have been charged in connection with a series of ram raids at businesses across the region.

    The three were arrested following a police pursuit in the early hours of Wednesday morning, said West Midlands Police, external, ending by a Small Heath canal.

    All three are set to appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court today.

    On 11 November 1918, as news of the end of World War One spread across the world, the parents of Wilfred Owen received notice that their son had been killed in action.

    The second lieutenant, from Oswestry,Shropshire, who would become known as one of England's greatest war poets, had died while trying to lead his men across a canal at Ors seven days earlier.

    He was one of thousands of servicemen killed in the last month of the war, and their deaths, coming as they did so close to the end of hostilities, seem to have a particularly heartbreaking quality.

    A man is due to appear in court charged with the murders of a mother and daughter.

    Khaola Saleem, 49, and Raneem Oudeh, 22, were found stabbed to death outside Ms Saleem's home in Solihull in August.

    Ms Oudeh's former partner Janbaz Tarin, of Evelyn Road, Sparkill 21, is due at Birmingham Crown Court today.

    An 80-date UK tour, to celebrate the 80th birthday of Sir Ian McKellen will include a performance at Coventry's Belgrade Theatre, the scene of his first professional acting job.

    He will also take his On Stage show - a collection of anecdotes and acting from across his career - to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and the Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon.

    "My first professional job was at the newly-built Belgrade Theatre," he said, living in a company flat on Corporation Street. I stayed a year, on £8.50 a week."

    At Stratford-upon-Avon he said he first saw the "theatre giants of my youth" after "queuing through the night for a half-a-crown standing place at the back of the stalls".

    Ian McKellen On Stage will tour from January 25 to September 15 next year.
