    Doctors and NHS managers will meet today in Worcester in an attempt to improve the stroke service across the county.

    It follows a letter from Worcestershire Healthwatch expressing fears over care, citing delays in patient treatment.

    The Worcestershire Acute Trust says it has an improvement plan and staff are working hard to deliver it.

    It adds it's had a number of discussions with Healthwatch about stroke services and will be responding to its letter.

    A new centre for driverless and electric vehicle technology is to be set up at the University of Warwick.

    Warwick Manufacturing Group, external will work with university researchers and Jaguar Land Rover engineers to deliver prototype vehicles and systems.

    The Smart City Mobility Centre will be based at the university's Wellesbourne campus, with cars being tested at its main campus in Coventry.

    The family of a man killed in a drive-by shooting 16 years ago today is calling for more to be done to find his killers.

    Jason Spence from Kingstanding, Birmingham, was gunned down on Cardington Avenue in Great Barr, Sandwell, in 2002.

    No-one has ever been charged in connection.

    His daughters, along with their mother, are due to make fresh appeals today.

    Herefordshire MP Jesse Norman has been promoted to replace Jo Johnson as transport minister, Downing Street says.

    Mr Norman, Tory member for Hereford and South Herefordshire, was previously a junior minister in the department of transport.

    Mr Johnson quit the post over Brexit, calling for a second referendum to be held.

    The MP for Hereford and South Herefordshire has been appointed Transport Minister.

    Jesse Norman is replacing Jo Johnson who quit in protest over Theresa May's handling of Brexit, Downing Street said.

    Mr Norman, who has been MP for the constituency since 2010, had previously served as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department for Transport.

    Mr Johnson stepped down last week after calling for a second referendum to be held.

    A former church in Coventry looks set to be demolished to make way for houses.

    Coundon Methodist Church, which dates back to 1938, has sat empty for about two years after the congregation relocated to Methodist Central Hall.

    It was put on the market for £475,000 and eventually sold off in June 2017.

    Applicants Tompkins Construction Ltd now want to build 10 houses and a bungalow on the Newhaven Close site, with car parking for 22 spaces.

    The application, which is set for approval, will be considered by city planners on Thursday.

    Roads campaigners have called for a long-term strategy to "eliminate the backlog" in pothole repairs and road maintenance projects.

    This year, the number of drivers breaking down after hitting potholes reached a three-year high, according to the RAC.

    A harsh winter and hot summer are thought to be partly to blame.

    Today the government confirmed the West Midlands would receive £43m from a £420m fund to repair potholes.

    But with winter around the corner, some have suggested the fund is too little and too late.

    Between them, Shropshire Council, Herefordshire Council, Worcestershire County Council and Staffordshire County Council maintain almost 10,000 miles of roads.

    CCTV images have been released of two men police want to speak to in connection with the vandalism of a new memorial dedicated to Sikh soldiers who fought in World War One.

    The 10-foot-high statue, called Lions of the Great War, was unveiled near Tollhouse Way, in Smethwick, on 4 November. On Friday it was sprayed with graffiti.

    Police say they are now treating the vandalism as racially aggravated criminal damage.

    Supt Martin Hurcomb said the attack had "caused a lot of concern in the community".

    Police are appealing for anyone who can identify the suspects to come forward.

    About 20 people were locked in Queens Park in Crewe last night, after all of the gates were padlocked.

    The park closed at 16:30, but some people said no warnings were given before entrances were locked.

    It's not the first time it's happened - one woman said she had previously been forced to call the police to get her out.

    The group was finally freed by a lady who works at the cafe.

    Cheshire East Council has apologised and says there was an oversight by the security officer, who hadn't checked the Lakeside Pavilion cafe, where a few remaining visitors were taking refreshments.
