    A treasure hunter who unearthed a World War One medal in Staffordshire has handed it to a Cumbrian man who's thought to be the soldier's last surviving relative.

    Justin Critchlow from Leek (left) was put in touch with Carlisle bus driver Michael Furmston after a Facebook post about his find was shared more than 8,000 times.

    The medal was the general service award, given to all officers and men of British and Imperial services - around 6.5m in all - after the war.

    Mr Thurmston went to Leek to get the medal from Justin Critchlow at the weekend and believes it belongs to his great grandfather's brother's son, or first cousin once removed, Herbert, who served in a Liverpool regiment.

    There are approximately two-hour delays on the M40 northbound in Warwickshire, says Highways England.

    Contractors are working to clean the road surface between J15 and the M42 after a crash involving two lorries.

    One person was assessed at the scene, said the ambulance service, but suffered only minor injuries.

    A split between two Staffordshire communities is being reconsidered.

    In the summer, people in Yarnfield and Cold Meece voted 357 to 80 to set up their own parish council, separate from their neighbours in Swynnerton. It just needs the approval of Stafford Borough Council.

    The authority meets on the matter next Thursday, but it has denied the split once before.

    In 2010, its members voted to create an extra Yarnfield ward councillor instead.

    AFC Telford United have reported Chester FC to the football authorities, claiming they approached one of their players without permission.

    The club says the first thing manager Gavin Cowan knew about the alleged move was on Sunday evening, when winger Adam Dawson said he wanted to leave to be closer to his home in Manchester.

    Dawson has now left to join Chester FC and Telford say they are waiting for a response from the FA and the National League.

    Chester FC say they "strenuously deny any wrongdoing and believe we have acted within all FA guidelines throughout the transfer negotiations with both Adam and his previous club."

    He's expected to go in at number six at Kandy to make room for all-rounder Ben Stokes, who is set to bat at three.

    A man suffered a serious head injury after a fight outside a Birmingham nightclub, police say.

    Officers were called to Glamorous Nightclub in Hurst Street in the early hours of this morning, to reports of a disorder.

    It's understood the 20-year-old man was punched to the ground, just before 05:00, and was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition, the force said.

    A number of witnesses have been spoken to and CCTV is currently being reviewed, said West Midlands Police.

    Detectives are trying to discover why a car left the A50 Liverpool Road in Kidsgrove, Staffordshire, at the weekend, killing its driver.

    Steven Turner, who was 44 and from Stoke-on-Trent, died after suffering serious injuries, Staffordshire Police said.

    The crash happened just before 03:00 on 11 November.

    A man has admitted attacking a traffic warden who was dragged from his moped and kicked and stamped on before his vehicle was stolen.

    It happened on Hartopp Road in the Alum Rock area of Birmingham in September.

    Danyal Bashir, from Hartopp Road, is set to be sentenced later this month after pleading guilty at a hearing today to a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

    Bashir, who was warned he is likely to receive a jail sentence, was granted conditional bail to reappear at Birmingham Crown Court on November 23.
