    Four men have been arrested after more than £500,000 worth of copper cable was stolen from Rugeley's former power station overnight.

    Staffordshire Police say they were called to the site at midnight and the men were arrested after a "large search of the area".

    The stolen cable was found discarded.The men, who are aged 18, 20, 30 and 34 are all from the London area and are being held on suspicion of theft.

    A bus company has been fined £2.3m after admitting health and safety failings following a crash in which a passenger and pedestrian died.

    A Midland Red (South) bus ploughed into a Coventry Sainsbury’s store in October 2015.

    The court was told the company behaved "irresponsibly" by ignoring signs that the driver was unsafe and tired.

    Dancers at a Birmingham strip club are fined £40 for not turning up and are not allowed to wear heels on the furniture, it's been revealed.

    Scarlets, which last week won its licence renewal application to re-open at Horse Fair,, external has revealed the list of rules and regulations its dancers must adhere to.

    It states dancers must arrive ten minutes before their shift starts and are fined £10 for every 30 minutes they are late.

    They could be charged £40 if they do not attend and they fail to give any notice.

    The club was questioned over its rules during the Birmingham City Council Licensing and Public Protection committee hearing as the renewal application was decided.

    Club manager Michelle Monaghan said at the time of the last inspection she had not actually fined anyone.

    Hospice premises have been burgled for the third time in a month with the latest raid causing thousands of pounds worth of damage to a warehouse.

    Cash and some jewellery were taken from the Douglas Macmillan building in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, during the early hours of Sunday.

    The same warehouse was broken into on 4 November and its Meir shop was also burgled at the start of the month.

    The charity said it had improved security, but the burglars had "adopted more aggressive tactics to force their way into the building", stealing from a safe.

    It is appealing for donations to help fund the repairs.

    Xhosa Cole, 22, is the winner of BBC Young Jazz Musician 2018.

    Handsworth-born Xhosa has played saxophone in the Jazzlines Ensemble, Birmingham Schools Symphony Orchestra and Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra among others.

    He performs and teaches regularly around Birmingham.

    The final took place at the Queen Elizabeth Hall at London’s Southbank Centre and is available on BBC iPlayer.

    Work to make Kidsgrove station properly accessible to disabled passengers is underway.

    Network Rail's £5m scheme will see three new lifts to platforms and a footbridge linking them.

    Proposals to combine the office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) with that of the mayor are "not a done deal," Andy Street has said.

    The West Midlands Metro Mayor added that while there is an "expectation from the government" the two positions will be combined, the merger will not go ahead without proper approval.

    Under the proposals, which are out for public consultation,, external the PCC office would cease to exist with the mayor being responsible for all policing in the same way as the London and Manchester mayors are now.

    The first Tenbury Wells mistletoe auction of the year takes place later.

    Hundreds of bunches of mistletoe will be sold off to buyers at the events held at Burford House Garden Store.

    Newport County says it's still not had any formal approach for manager Michael Flynn despite rumours he is a target for managerless Shrewsbury Town.

    The Welsh club went on to say it will "continue to support the manager in strengthening the squad in the January transfer window" and that Flynn's attention was on tonight's match against Northampton.

    Firefighters were called out to reports of smoke at a Shrewsbury supermarket, only to find it was a security light reflecting off fog.

    Crews said they spent 10 minutes at the Co-op on Bank Farm Road before returning home.

    A training exercise is being carried out on the site of Birmingham Children's Hospital.

    Fire service crews will be using the former dental hospital building, which is currently empty, at the rear of the main site.

    The exercise is expected to start at 10:30 and last about four hours.

    A number of firefighters and engines will be on site.

    All appointments and clinics will be running as normal, said the hospital, with no road closures expected.

    A candlelit vigil for Jaydon James is to be held at a church in Coventry on Thursday.

    The 16-year-old, known as JJ, was stabbed in the Wood End area of the city on Saturday night and died later in hospital.

    Two friends, seriously injured in the stab attack, are still in hospital.

    A vigil will take place at St Chad's Church, Hilmorton Road from 19:00 to 21:00.

    Mental health is placing a "significant" and "preventable" demand on police forces, the West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner says.

    It comes after a review by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services claims that mental health provisions across the UK are failing both patients and police.

    In the last 12 months, more than 7,000 incidents reported to West Mercia Police were related to mental health.

    John Campion said officers are too often expected to deal with incidents that could have been prevented had patients had access to the right help.

    Passengers using high-speed rail service HS2 could order online shopping packages to be delivered to their seat, Bombardier Transportation is claiming.

    The company is bidding to win a £2.8bn contract to build 54 high-speed trains in a joint venture with Hitachi Rail.

    Sales director Martin Rennoldson said they're developing technology which would enable click-and-collect services on board.

    The first phase of the scheme, which will link Birmingham with London, through Warwickshire, is set to be completed by 2026.

    Fresh bin strike action in Birmingham could happen before the new year, a union is warning.

    Unite members are to be balloted over the action which the union said could take place from 28 December and was "very likely".

    It claims members who took took action last year, when a three-month strike was held in the summer, are being "blacklisted".

    Regional Unite secretary Howard Beckett said a "decision was made by the council last year to make a payment to those (workers) who did not go on strike, and as a result discriminated against those who did".

    A two-week ballot is to begin on Friday, it said.

    The city council said it's committed to delivering the best possible services and continuing to work to improve waste collections.

    A man is set to appear in court later charged with murder after the death of a man in Smethwick.

    The man, thought to be 70, was found at a property in White Road on Friday. He later died in hospital.

    A post-mortem examination showed he died from a "blunt force injury," West Midlands Police said.

    Palvinder Hayre, 50, of White Road, Smethwick, is set to appear at Dudley Magistrates' Court.
