    Housing developers have been accused of building "houses for midgets" which are "unfit for regular-sized humans".

    Bryan Cross MBE, a Stafford councillor, said he wanted to ensure the town was an "attractive place that people want to live in" and also claimed developers were trying to cram undersized homes into small parcels of land left around new housing estates.

    Mr Cross went on to say, "“The houses won’t fit. They are trying to cram them into a very small space. They’re so small in comparison to the existing houses.”

    Despite winning just one league game since the start of December, the Port Vale midfielder Ben Whitfield says the mood in the dressing room is positive.

    They've lost all three games since the new manager John Askey took over earlier this month and he said the players accepted they "needed telling" by the manager after the defeats.

    During that run they've lost seven and drawn five, with their sole win against Crawley in 19 January.

    He said the players were taking the manager's points on board and working to "put it right".

  9. Car event to return to country estatepublished at 18:29 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2019

    An event for super cars and classic cars is returning to Worcestershire for a fifth year this summer and is claiming the cars involved will be worth around £500m.

    The Chateau Impney Hill Climb, takes place at parkland surrounding the Grade II listed home, near Droitwich, and involves a number of races, record attempts and exhibitions.

    The event takes place on 13 and 14 July and the organisers expect up to 20,000 people to attend.

    A public toilet in Wellington, in Shropshire, has been named the best in the West Midlands for the fifth year running.

    The facilities on The Parade are managed by the town council and maintained by Linda Richmond and her sister Tina Shuttleworth.

    An anonymous inspector rated the toilets on a number of things, including cleanliness, baby changing facilities, accessibility and decor.

    It was also given a Loo of the Year "platinum" award.

    Walsall FC says the man who led a campaign to save the club and became their club president, Barrie Blower (pictured, right), has died at the age of 78., external

    They've called him one of the most influential people in the club's 131-year history after he set up the Save Walsall Action Group in the 1980s.

    It went on to stop plans for Walsall to groundshare with first Wolves and then Birmingham City.

    As well as going on to be Walsall's chairman and club president, they say Mr Blower was active in local politics.

    A minute's applause will be held at their game with Fleetwood on 9 March.

    Everyone in Telford under the age of 18 will be entitled to free swimming for the next two years, the local council has announced.

    People over the age of 50 will be able to continue swimming for £1 for another three years.

    The Labour-run council, which is facing fresh elections in May, said it was one of a number of measures to improve health which would cost £3.6m.
