Midwives guilty of misconduct over baby's carepublished at 14:36 British Summer Time 11 April 2019
Two midwives have been found guilty of misconduct in connection with the death of a baby in Telford.
Laura Jones and Hayley Lacey, based at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, have been appearing before the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) in London.
Earlier this week, Ms Jones admitted some elements of her care were "completely unacceptable", including not carrying out a proper handover and said she should have referred the mother to a doctor when her blood pressure was too high.
The child, known as Baby K, died four days after being born at Telford's Princess Royal Hospital on 19 August 2015. Neither midwife is accused of causing the death of the boy.
The NMC must now decide whether further action is needed.
A third midwife Kerry Davies was told she would face no further action.
