    An MP has pledged to try and keep a children's hospice after a charity said it was set to close due to a lack of funds.

    Acorns in Walsall, which looked after 200 children in the last year, could shut at the beginning of October.

    Staff and families have been told and care will be transferred to Acorns sites in Birmingham and Worcester.

    Walsall South MP Valeria Vaz told BBC WM: "I am really disappointed in this and I want to do all I can to ensure that it does stay open."

    She added: "I can’t explain how bad this would be for Walsall and how disappointing it is for parents and children.”

    Adam Hose has reached his maiden century for Warwickshire, as they continue their rain-affected first innings against Nottinghamshire.

    Detectives have issued a CCTV image of a man, external they want to speak to after railway station staff were racially abused.

    British Transport Police said it happened at 19:30 on 29 March at Birmingham Snow Hill.

    A man went up to three members of staff at the ticket barrier, made racially offensive comments and then tried to force his way through the barriers.

    Officers said the man in the image may have information which can help their investigation.

    Telecoms firm BT has announced plans to close 270 offices, but pledged Birmingham would remain a key location.

    The company has said it's going to reduce its 300 offices to about 30 by 2023 but claimed no jobs would be lost.

    About 52,000 people work at the current locations.

    BT announced that, in the future, its key locations would be in eight places, including Birmingham, and it was working on finding the "best buildings" to move into and which ones to redesign.

    A mother says she has "no idea" what she's going to do after the news that a children's hospice is set to close.

    Acorns said the Walsall site could shut at the end of October due to a lack of funds and a consultation on the closure's started.

    It said care would be switched to its other locations in Birmingham and Worcester.

    Charlotte Cleary, whose been a regular visitor to the Walsall hospice with her seven-year-old daughter Aimee, who has cerebral palsy, said they're facing an uncertain future.

    She said of the proposed shift in location: "I'm going to need to take two, three trains to get there and, with my daughter in her wheelchair and her feeding equipment and everything else, I'm really going to struggle."

    A D-Day veteran from Coventry has been given an award by the prime minister, for setting up the peace organisation Normandy Day UK, external.

    Dennis Davison BEM, who is 96, has been given the Points of Light, external award, which recognises volunteers who make a difference in their communities.

    His group organises educational trips and talks by veterans and he was involved in setting up Coventry's Peace Orchard in 2017.

    Mr Davison is also due to be honoured, alongside other veterans, by the Lord Mayor of Coventry at a civic reception tomorrow.

    Drivers in Congleton, Cheshire, are being warned of delays as a main route's going to be shut for much of today after a large diesel spill.

    Cheshire East Council said it happened yesterday morning on the A34 Rood Hill, closing the route from Rood Hill traffic lights to Giantswood Lane.

    Workers are stripping off the damaged carriageway and resurfacing it, with an aim of reopening this evening so motorists can use a temporary surface.

    A Telford car parts factory could close, affecting about 180 staff.

    Its owner, Mahle, said it had seen a fall in orders and the location of the filter parts plant at Halesfield was no longer competitive.

    Mahle said it expected demand for its products to fall even further in the future, "due to the changed strategic direction of automobile manufacturers in Great Britain".

    It has promised to meet employee representatives and work to "minimise the potential impact" on workers.

    Crews have been at Billy Bunns Lane since being called at 08:43 and will investigate the cause once it's fully out.

    Three hundred new ambulances have been ordered at a cost of £40m by West Midlands Ambulance Service., external

    The first will arrived in August with the rest being delivered over the next three years.

    The service's said they will replace existing vehicles and it means all its fleet will be no older than five years old.

    They'll come with the latest equipment and WMAS said they will be lighter and produce less CO2 emissions, as well as costing less in fuel.

    The trust said the plans would make the fleet the "most technologically advanced in service anywhere in the world".

    The service, which recently featured in BBC series Ambulance, is rated outstanding by the Care Quality Commission and earlier this year it increased its number of vehicles by 25, to 480.
