    Thunderstorms and heavy rain could cause travel disruption throughout Sunday afternoon, the Met Office is warning., external

    It has now extended yellow warnings for severe weather starting at 12:00 on Sunday until the end of Monday.

    Where thunderstorms do develop, 20 to 30mm rain may fall locally in an hour, and close to 40mm of rain may fall in two or three hours, it said.

    The Environment Agency's Dave Throup said there was the "potential for big storms for Sunday onwards as temperatures and humidity rise".

    A mother who admitted conspiracy to produced cannabis, from a £2m six-bedroomed property in Solihull, has avoided jail, the Daily Mail is reporting, external.

    Lisa Scotney, 54, of Broadway, North Walsall was handed a two-year jail sentence at Warwick Crown Court on Thursday, suspended for two years.

    Two other defendants, who also admitted to the same charge, were also given suspended sentences.

    A Staffordshire police officer has appeared on BBC TV this morning, talking again about the injuries she suffered when she had her legs crushed by dangerous driver who was trying to escape arrest.

    PC Claire Bond told the BBC's Critical Incident "It was like I was in a washing machine, my body was like turning and then all of a sudden I felt quite a hard hit" and said she remember seeing her left leg pointing the wrong way and "my foot felt like jelly".

    She was in hospital for nine days and her husband Darren, who is also a police officer, said he's had to take time off and stay at home to look after her.

    PC Bond, who is determined to return to front-line policing, also said that when 25-year-old Gurajdeep Malhi, of Stafford was arrested, "relief that I felt was quite overwhelming".

    He is due to be sentenced later this year after admitting causing grievous bodily harm with intent to avoid arrest, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

    The government's chief whip has promised to investigate messages sent to a female Conservative MP by a colleague in which she was was called a "disgrace" and told to quit the party.

    In a now-deleted tweet, Antoinette Sandbach, MP for Eddisbury in Cheshire, shared a screenshot of WhatsApp messages which she said were sent to her by a male Tory MP.

    "You too are a disgrace. Time you left the party I think," they read.

    It comes as Conservative MPs voted for their final two leadership contenders.

    Planners at Warwick District Council are to discuss what to do next after a number of planning appeals went against them.

    A report to this week's planning committee highlighted which cases had been lost by the council including ones for a housing development in Hampton Magna and the change of use of a former car showroom in Myton Road, Leamington.

    Committee chairman Councillor Alan Boad admitted it was unusual to have so many appeals found in favour of the applicant after its original applications had been turned down.

    Dave Barber, the council’s head of development services, said: “We are meeting to specifically review whether there is anything we need to learn from these decisions."

    Warwickshire have described their captain Jeetan Patel as a "legend" after he passed 700 wickets for the county in their win over Yorkshire yesterday.

    The Kiwi spinner first joined them in 2009 and scored a century on his debut - since then he has played every season, with the exception of 2010.

    In World War Two Foxley Manor and a huge area of parkland was a home for Canadian and USA soldiers and two US military hospitals.

    The Labour Party in Shrewsbury could deselect the candidate they put forward at the last two general elections, over concerns she isn't following the party line.

    There's a special meeting next week to raise concerns about public comments by Laura Davies on issues such as hospital reorganisation, where she has been arguing for a new super hospital - the official party line is that the two existing hospitals should be retained as they are.
