  19. Fresh bid to delay pub demolition planspublished at 18:10 British Summer Time 9 July 2019

    Local Democracy Reporting Service

Regulars at a pub in Staffordshire are making another attempt to get it added to a register of community assets, to stop it being demolished.

The Green Man at Hixon is due to be knocked down in October and replaced by a convenience store and three houses, but customers hope they can delay the demolition and possibly buy it themselves.

If if is added to Staffordshire Council's register of Assets of Community Value, they will have more time to raise the necessary funds, but a previous attempt to get it included failed last October.

The pub, which is thought to have been built around 1820, is one of two in the village, and in a statement to the council the owner said: "I will be sad to see the pub go but the 30 or so regulars isn’t enough to support such a large pub. I’m 66 and need to retire."
