  1. England's Test squad for Lord's namedpublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 17 July 2019

    Warwickshire's Chris Woakes (pictured below) and Olly Stone and Worcestershire's Moeen Ali have been named in England's Test squad for the match against Ireland at Lord's, which starts on 24 July.

    Stone, who made his England ODI debut last winter in Sri Lanka, earns his second call up to the Test squad.

    Jason Roy, who has been named in England's Test squad for the first time, scored 443 runs as an opener in the triumphant World Cup campaign.

    Somerset all-rounder Lewis Gregory has also been called up for the first time.

    England's leading Test wicket-taker, James Anderson, is also included, despite injuring his calf earlier in July.

    About 45 firefighters are tackling a "severe fire" at a disused factory in Smethwick.

    Ten appliances are at the scene in Rolfe Street, after the fire service was called at about 13:00, it said.

    The blaze has affected the ground and first floor of the building.

    The stars said they were "deeply worried about the poorest older people who are set to lose out".

    Their message comes as MPs prepare to question BBC executives about the subject at the House of Commons later.

    The coalition running Herefordshire Council has maintained its majority, with victory in a by-election last night.

    It was triggered when former Hereford mayor Sue Boulter had to stand down, after finding she was ineligible to be a councillor, because she helped the authority's special needs transport service once a week.

    Her husband, Dave Boulter stood in her place and held onto the seat for the It's Our County party, which controls the council with the support of the Green Party and the Herefordshire Independents.

    A second man has been charged in connection with the death of 80-year-old Desmond Wooding from Droitwich.

    Mark Mason, 55, from Plough Lane in Tibberton has been charged with assisting an offender and is due before Worcester magistrates on 1 August.

    Adam Leslie Mason, who is 32 and also from Plough Lane in Tibberton, has previously been charged with murder and is due before Worcester Crown Court on 12 August.

  13. Police name woman who died after suffering head injuriespublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 17 July 2019

    A woman who died after being found with serious head injuries at the weekend was Melanie Loveridge, a 44-year-old from Derrington.

    She died in hospital, two days after being found on the Isabel Trail, off Station Road in Haughton, Staffordshire.

    She is believed to have left The Bell Inn pub in Haughton and was riding an electric bike before she was found injured on Saturday.

    Her family said she was "a beautiful, intelligent, strong and loving person who will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved her.”

    A 50-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of causing her grievous bodily harm, has now been released, while more inquiries are carried out

    Chocolatiers at Cadbury World have celebrated the 50th anniversary of the 1969 lunar landing by creating a space scene depicting Neil Armstrong's first steps on the moon.

    The model was fashioned at Bournville, Birmingham, using the equivalent of 400 standard bars of Dairy Milk, and is set to go on display at the city's Thinktank science museum.

    Produced by chocolatiers Dawn Jenks and Donna Oluban over five days, the tribute - dubbed Choc-ollo 11 by staff - weighs about 18kg.

    The Apollo 11 mission lifted off on 16 July 1969 and landed on the moon four days later.
