    A number of the BBC Weather Watchers were photographing the lunar eclipse last night and they got some great pictures.

    Here are two of the best, taken in Bidford-on-Avon in Warwickshire and Bengeworth in Worcestershire.

  2. Peace park to remember victims of bombing raidpublished at 10:54 British Summer Time 17 July 2019

    A 'park of peace' is going to be created in Worcester, to remember those killed in a German bombing raid in 1940.

    Seven died and 50 were injured when bombs fell on the city's Meco works in October that year - the site later became Joy Mining.

    The nearby Sanctuary Park will now become the home of a public memorial.

    Wolves play the first game of their Asian tour this morning.

    They've been attending various events as well as training after travelling to Shanghai at the weekend and they'll begin the Premier League Asia Trophy pre-season tournament with a match against Newcastle, kicking off at 11:00.

    Warwickshire captain,Jeetan Patel (pictured) says his young team's performance against Essex this week gave him more encouragement that they're making progress, despite the final result.

    Essex moved to the top of the County Championship when they completed a 187-run win over the Bears yesterday afternoon.

    Warwickshire remain seventh, but still well clear of Nottinghamshire, who are in the only relegation place with four matches to go.

    They've had a hard run of five successive away games while Edgbaston has been in use for the World Cup.

    A change of pace now awaits them as the T20 Blast competition fills the next few weeks, starting at Worcester on Friday. Patel says they'll go into it feeling good after the way they've competed recently.

    The government's being urged to expand the Ceramic Valley enterprise zone in Stoke-on-Trent.

    The development's been set up to create thousands of jobs in north Staffordshire on six former industrial sites.

    Conservative MP for Stoke South Jack Brereton (pictured) told the Commons it was a success story.

    Business Minister Jake Berry said he'd look at the idea.

  8. Light aircraft comes down in fieldpublished at 09:41 British Summer Time 17 July 2019

    Two men have been taken to hospital after the light aircraft they were in came down in a wheat field shortly after take-off.

    The small aeroplane "had remained the right way up though had suffered considerable damage", an ambulance spokesman said.

    One of those inside was trapped and had to be helped out by ambulance staff and firefighters.

    The two men, who were both in their 60s, were taken by land ambulance to New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton with injuries not thought to be life-threatening.

    The incident happened near to Otherton Airfield, Penkridge, at about 15:45 on Tuesday.

    Human remains found in a Worcestershire village are not thought to be those of Suzy Lamplugh, West Mercia Police have said.

    The remains found last Friday were in Kempsey and the force said while they don't believe they belong to the missing estate agent, they will wait on the results of post mortem examinations to be sure.

    Ms Lamplugh disappeared from Fulham in 1986. Police recently searched an area near Pershore (ten miles from Kempsey) for her body.

    The Pershore search was sparked by new information following publicity about a search last year of a property in Sutton Coldfield which once belonged to the mother of prime suspect John Cannan.

    There have been searches for Ms Lamplugh - who was officially declared dead in 1994 - in Worcestershire previously, when police excavated a field near the former Norton Army Barracks in 2000 and 2001 and land near the village of Drakes Broughton in 2010.

    Kosova's Feronikeli had scored two late goals to secure a 2-2 draw in the first leg at Park Hall, leaving the Welsh champions needing to score in Pristina.

    The Oswestry-based side topped the Welsh Premier League to make the qualifying rounds for the eighth year running.

    A woman found with head injuries over the weekend has died in hospital.

    The 44-year-old woman was found with serious injuries on Saturday evening on the Isabel Trail, off Station Road (generic image above) in Haughton,

    She was taken to hospital but died on Monday night.

    A post mortem is due to take place, Staffordshire Police said.

    A 50-year-old man, from Stafford, has been arrested in connection with the incident.

    A filmmaker who's worked on movies such as Star Wars is in Birmingham today to screen short features he's produced dealing with Islamophobia.

    Rizwan Wadan (pictured) is aiming to show the four films in pubs across the city.

    They're part of his new £1.2m project The Error in Terror, which he hopes will help tackle extremism and hostility towards Muslim communities.

    There have been 24 arrests in Stoke-on-Trent in 24 hours as part of an ongoing operation to disrupt criminal activity.

    Yesterday's campaign in the city included at least four raids and multiple vehicle checks.

    Arrests include those suspected of drug and fraud offences.

    McDonald’s is holding a public consultation tomorrow to reveal its new plans for a drive-thru in Coventry.

    The fast-food giant has come back with fresh plans for a restaurant on parts of the existing car park at Asda, on London Road, in Whitley.

    A previous application for the site was withdrawn in March, after it sparked objections and petitions with more than 300 signatures.

  17. Council looks to slash printing budgetpublished at 07:44 British Summer Time 17 July 2019

    Worcestershire County Council is looking to cut its printing budget after revealing it spent more than £380,000 in the last 12 months - printing out around 12 million pages.

    The amount of paper used was the equivalent of 750 trees and the authority says it will urge staff to "think before they print".

    The council says it will aim to save around £700,000 over the next five years by restricting access to printers, sharing more information by email, stopping all but essential colour printing and reducing the number of agendas it prints by at least half.

    Young people in Wolverhampton preparing to leave care will get the opportunity to move into their own home thanks to a new programme.

    The House Project, run in part by the city council, will see them offered an empty property to live in for as long as they need it.

    About 10 youths aged 16 and over will be given access to local companies to help them refurbish their properties.
