    The Malvern Hills Trust is urging people to take extra care when walking their dogs over the summer holidays, after one sheep died and another was injured following attacks over the weekend.

    Sheep

    On Saturday, a sheep was chased off the hills, suffering bite injuries to its legs and tail.

    The following day, another sheep died of a suspected heart attack due to fear, after also being chased and bitten.

    The trust is reminding people that sheep worrying is a criminal offence and is asking them to keep their pets on a lead when near livestock.

  2. Extra refuge for Coventry rough sleepers during heatwavepublished at 18:15 British Summer Time 23 July 2019

    Extra refuge for rough sleepers in Coventry is being provided during the heatwave.

    Arrangements have been made with The Salvation Army and Steps for Change, Coventry Winter Night Shelter says.

    The Salvation Army at Harnall Lifehouse, in Harnall Lane West, is open all day today and on Wednesday and Thursday.

    Steps for Change at City Arcade will be open this Thursday between 11:00 and 15:00.

    Food, water and shelter will be provided for these days whilst the heat persists.

  4. Indecent exposure incidents in Telfordpublished at 18:05 British Summer Time 23 July 2019

    Police believe three indecent exposure incidents in Telford, external are linked.

    A man, described as white, aged in his late teens and wearing a black tracksuit and trainers, exposed himself to two teenagers in a wooded area at about 17:20 BST on Sunday 14 July.

    It happened near the BMX park at the back of The Church Wicketts pub and St Leonard's Church in Malinslee.

    The second incident happened at about 15:30 BST on the following day in a wooded area near Brereton in Brookside.

    In a third incident, police say a man was standing in a wooded area when he made a gesture to a 13-year-old girl in Blakemore at about 15:40 BST on 17 July. He is described as white, approximately 5ft 9ins tall and average build.

    The head coach of the Birmingham franchise in the new English cricket competition, The Hundred, says the tournament will be just what the game in England needs.

    Andrew McDonald (pictured), 38, has already coached a side to win the Australian T20 tournament, the Big Bash, which has attracted huge crowds and attention for the sport in recent years.

    The five-week tournament featuring the 100-ball format in England and Wales will be played at the height of summer next year and involve eight city-based teams.

    A woman who carried out an "horrific and sustained" attack on a man with a beer bottle has been jailed for four years.

    Andene Harvey caused a deep cut to the man's head after arguing with him at a Leamington Spa flat.

    As the victim lay on the floor, Harvey continued to kick him, said Warwickshire Police.

    The 37-year-old, of Bury Road in the town, was found guilty of grievous bodily harm at Warwick Crown Court and sentenced on 19 July.

    The Warwickshire paceman comes in for James Anderson who has been ruled out of his side's Ashes warm-up Test against Ireland at Lord's.

    Anderson, 36, injured a calf playing for Lancashire on 2 July.

    Stone will be joining his county colleague Chris Woakes in the attack.

    Worcestershire's Moeen Ali also plays.

    A fundraising effort to restore and redevelop the Royal Shakespeare Company's costume workshop has been reached, the organisation has announced.

    Work is set to start on the development in Stratford-upon-Avon after the completion of the £3m "Stitch in Time" campaign.

    The demolition of some buildings on the site, which is located on Waterside opposite the Royal Shakespeare and Swan Theatres, has already taken place.

    The redevelopment will "create the best facilities for costume-making in a working environment fit for the 21st Century", said the RSC.
