    The affected section of the line connects Chester, Warrington, Manchester, Wigan, Preston and the Lake District, to the West Midlands and London.

    A full list of services affected is available on the Network Rail website, external, alongside details of replacement buses.

    Network Rail has advised passengers to allow more time for journeys.

    The revolver has been sent for testing to see if it's been used in a crime, police said, after it would found in a bag in Bordesley Green.

    In a separate incident, drugs with an estimated street value of £72,000 were found in a parked car in Alum Rock.

    What's thought to be heroin was seized after officers forced their way into the car, acting on intelligence.

    Firefighters are still at a derelict factory in Birmingham where a fire broke out on Saturday.

    At its height, more than 70 firefighters tackled the blaze, in Winson Green, understood to involve recycling material.

    Station commander Jason Holt said pockets of fire were still flaring up at the site, which has now partially collapsed.

    Structural engineers from Birmingham City Council are expected at the site today, he said.

    A fire investigation is also ongoing, he added.

  7. Coventry shooting: 'Drive-by' attack investigatedpublished at 08:09 British Summer Time 22 July 2019

    Police are continuing to investigate the shooting of a 15-year-old boy in Coventry.

    Officers believe shots were fired from a motorbike carrying "a number of people" on Cross Cheaping in Coventry city centre at about 23:10 on Saturday.

    Detectives are investigating links to two other incidents at about the same time after a knife was recovered from a Cosy Club bar nearby.

    West Midlands Police said extra officers will be patrolling the area after the "appalling and reckless" attack.

    Adam Peaty will go for gold in the 100m breaststroke at the world championships in South Korea today.

    The Staffordshire swimmer has become the first man to swim 100m breaststroke in under 57 seconds - breaking his own world record with a time of 56.88.

    The Olympic champion, from Uttoxeter, eclipsed his own record by just over two-tenths of a second and won comfortably in the second men's semi-final on day one in Gwangju.

    Peaty previously claimed he could break his own 100m world record in South Korea, calling it the "magic 57-second barrier".
