    A fee-paying school in Nuneaton has told the local authority it is closing and parents are being helped to find places elsewhere.

    Warwickshire County Council said it was contacted by Milverton House School yesterday and that parents had also been given letters to explain the situation.

    The council is now directing parents to state school alternatives and offering advice on admissions.

    The school has been approached for a comment by the BBC, and the Department for Education says that as it is a private school, it is not involved.

    The Church End Brewery in Nuneaton has picked up two medals at the Champion Beer of Britain awards.

    With 85 days to go until Britain is expected to leave the EU, Shropshire Council says it wants to know more about the likely impact of a no-deal Brexit.

    It's asking the government to provide greater clarity about the effect on the export market, including agriculture.

    Shrewsbury Town will be without their new defender Aaron Pierre for four games, because he's been called up to play for Grenada.

    He'll be involved in their squad for the Concacaf Nations League qualifiers, between September and November, and Shrewsbury manager, Sam Ricketts, said: "He's a big player for them and he's very proud to play for them."

    But Ricketts said they knew they were likely to lose him for a number of games when they signed him, adding: "He'll be a loss obviously, but it's something we'll just have to accept."

  15. Knife Angel arrives in new citypublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 7 August 2019

    The mayor of Middlesbrough has described Shropshire's Knife Angel sculpture as "massive, terrifying and beautiful".

    The 8m (26ft) high statue, which has already visited Birmingham and Coventry, is made of thousands of knives surrendered to or seized by police forces around the country and it's intended to raise awareness of knife crime.

    Andy Preston said it was a "massive issue" in his city and hoped the statue, which was made at the British Ironworks Centre near Oswestry, would "play a role in raising awareness and deterring young people from carrying knives".

    It is due to be on display in the city's central square for four weeks.

  17. Coventry fans assured Bolton game will go aheadpublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 7 August 2019

    Coventry City fans have been assured that the match away to Bolton Wanderers is going ahead this weekend, despite ticket sales being put on hold.

    Bolton has been in administration since 13 May and is still waiting for takeover to be completed. It put out a statement this morning to say ticket sales which were due to open at 09:00 had been suspended because of "very recent developments".

    The Bolton statement also said: "Please be assured Saturday’s Sky Bet League One game against Coventry City is going ahead."

    Coventry have been allocated 1,900 tickets for the League One fixture with fans only able to buy them directly from the Bolton website.

  18. Five more arrests in mass brawl investigationpublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 7 August 2019

    Five more arrests have been made by police, external investigating disorder in Stoke-on-Trent.

    Emergency services including armed police were called to Milton Street last month and five people were found to have been hurt.

    One of the victims was stabbed and was in a critical condition in hospital, but recovered to a stable condition. , external

    The five men were arrested this morning on suspicion of committing violent disorder and are still in custody.

    In total, 19 people have been arrested in the investigation, and the other 14 were released on bail.
