The Birmingham Eastside Metro line was planned to be running to Digbeth by 2022, and would pass directly underneath the high speed rail line's city-centre station, Curzon Street. The tram line is still waiting for government approval because of issues surrounding HS2.

HS2 Ltd has said it's working closely with Transport for West Midlands to ensure the successful integration of the Birmingham Eastside Extension with the HS2 Curzon Station.
