    Riyah Collins
    BBC News

A charity that serves hot meals for people in need has called for more volunteers.

Moe Nawaz runs Homeless One in Birmingham, which has recently started serving food seven days a week, catering for up to 160 people a night.

The charity needs about 14 volunteers each night, Mr Nawaz said, but is currently operating with eight and he expects the service to get busier as winter draws in.

BBC video journalist John Bray caught up with the charity's volunteers last December as they served meals in Digbeth:

    BBC WM

Businesses in the heart of Birmingham are considering compensation claims after flooding on a street from a damaged pipe.

    Flooding on Broad Street

Water began pouring on to Broad Street last month when contractors for the Midland Metro damaged it during construction work.

Westside Business Improvement District, representing the firms, told BBC WM it left many restaurants, hotels and shops on the road without water for 24 hours.

The Midland Metro Alliance say they worked closely with Severn Trent to restore supplies as quickly as possible and it's urged companies affected to contact their insurance companies.

    Quote Message

It was very disruptive. From the off, it shut businesses down and you just simply can't operate say a food business with hygiene concerns and considerations if you've got no water coming in and that was the case instantly for many of our businesses."

Mike Olly, Westside Business Improvement District
