There's a call to have a 20mph speed limit on all residential streets in Wolverhampton.
The Liberal Democrat group on the city council, which is behind the suggestion, also said there should be more speed cameras and CCTV.
Image source, Getty ImagesData published by the Department for Transport this week showed that in 2018 there were five fatalities on the city's roads, 92 serious crashes and 594 slight or less serious incidents.
A spokesman for Wolverhampton Council said: “Research shows that 20mph speed limits generally lead to only a small reduction in traffic speeds."
He added that the council would treat each request for 20mph limits on an individual basis.

A charity that serves hot meals for people in need has called for more volunteers.
Moe Nawaz runs Homeless One in Birmingham, which has recently started serving food seven days a week, catering for up to 160 people a night.
The charity needs about 14 volunteers each night, Mr Nawaz said, but is currently operating with eight and he expects the service to get busier as winter draws in.
BBC video journalist John Bray caught up with the charity's volunteers last December as they served meals in Digbeth:
