    A moped rider has been seriously injured in a crash with a tractor in Shrewsbury this morning.

    West Mercia Police said it happened on Pulley Lane at about 08:00 and he was flown to hospital for treatment.

    The flooded fields slowed the flow of the river to Ironbridge, it said. Flood water came close to some properties as the river peaked overnight.

    Levels are expected to stay high throughout the week.

    Telford's Conservative MP has set up a crowdfunding page to try to raise money for a legal challenge against hospital reorganisation plans.

    Lucy Allan says she wants £5,000 to pay for expert legal advice to see whether there are grounds for a judicial review into the overhaul of how Shropshire's acute sites deliver services.

    The proposals, backed earlier this month by the health secretary, involve downgrading A&E at Telford's Princess Royal and moving specialist women and children's services to Shrewsbury.

    Telford would instead become Shropshire's centre for planned treatment.

    Telford and Wrekin Council has also discussed the possibility of a legal challenge.

    A former gang member who lived on the streets of Birmingham as a teenager has received a Pride of Britain Award.

    Hezron Brown received the Prince's Trust Young Achiever award.

    The 29-year-old managed to escape a life of crime after getting involved with The Prince's Trust charity at the Birmingham Rep.

    He has spent the last seven years helping thousands of youngsters by steering them away from drugs and gang violence, going into schools and pupil referral units and talking about his journey.

    The awards will be broadcast on ITV on 5 November.

    Stoke City midfielder Joe Allen has said the club needs leaders on the pitch, but admitted "I don't think we're blessed with lots".

    Club captain Ryan Shawcross has been out all season and Allen said: "That's a big miss for us, he's obviously been a leader for this club for a long time."

    Stoke play promotion-chasing West Brom next Monday and Allen said there was hope, because the club had "good personalities, good characters", but said "it's up to the rest of us to step up a bit more".

    A Shropshire physiotherapist has been named vice-captain of the UK team for the 2020 Invictus Games and said they had been a "turning point" in her life.

    Kelly Leonard, who lives near Shawbury, has suffered arthritis in her ankle since a motorbike accident and lost interest in sport, until taking part in the UK trials for the games.

    Kelly said: "I am back competing again both individually and in a team. I want more. I have started to believe in myself and am proud to show my children, who have never seen me without disability, that with self-belief you can accomplish anything”.

    The fastest river flows in Burton-upon-Trent since 2013 have been registered, the Environment Agency says.

    Hydrometry and telemetry scientists have been measuring flow after heavy weekend rain.

    Usually the flow is about 20 cubic metres of water per second, with 100 per second registered on Monday.

    The Environment Agency is closing the Hylton Road flood gate in Worcester for the first time since 2014.

    And it warned other roads might close as river levels rise.

    River levels are expected to peak in Bewdley and Worcester later, with the possibility of more flooding, said the Environment Agency.

    Chris Bainger said current levels in Bewdley are 4.54m and are expected to peak at 4.59m.

    "All the protection is in place and it's doing a sterling job," he said.

    "There's a little bit more to go in Worcester," he added.

    "We have to watch that because it's 5.18m on the Worcester gauge and if it goes to 5.2 there could be another couple of roads that are flooded".

    Part of a B-52 bomber landed in a Warwickshire garden.

    A resident in Brailes, Warwickshire, reported "hearing a thud" in her front garden and discovered what appeared to be a small part from an aircraft, police said.

    The American bomber is stationed at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire and was returning to base when it happened.

    No harm was done to "persons, animals or property" in the October 23 incident, it added.

    The entire English River Severn is covered by flood warnings which is unusual, the Environment Agency has said.

    River levels peaked in Ironbridge overnight but are expected to stay high for a few days.

    Workers monitored temporary flood defences in Bewdley overnight at Severnside North.

    More than 1,000 homes and businesses had been protected by the Severn flood barriers, the agency said.

    Roads across Worcestershire, Shropshire and Herefordshire are still being affected by floodwater.

    Warnings and alerts remain in place - although water levels are now starting to fall.
