    A close watch is being kept on the River Severn in Worcester which has already broken its banks in places, flooding parts of the city.

    With water levels still expected to rise, the Environment Agency is monitoring the waterway and doesn't expect levels to fall until after Tuesday., external

    About 485 tonnes of water per second is passing through the river gauge at Buildwas near Ironbridge, with the water level now up to 5.5m.

    Fire crews in Shropshire responded to 220 emergency 999 calls in a 48-hour period during a "wet and wild" weekend.

    The fire service has thanked crews who responded for their "unwavering hard work, commitment and energy".

    Assistant Chief Fire Officer Dave Myers said he was proud of the fire service, which he said had pulled together "to rise to the challenge".

    The fire service also warned of the effects of more rain later in the week.

    The Edgar Davies ground in Bridgnorth is another sporting ground affected by flood water.

    Bridgnorth RFC's facilities manager Ian George said it was the second time the ground had been flooded in the past two months.

    A marquee at the ground is currently under about 18 inches of water, he said.

    "I've had to go down there this morning and take up all the electrical appliances."

    "Yesterday there was nothing, it came up in the night," he added, "and I suspect this afternoon it will be gone again."

    "It's just the chaos it causes when it does come."

    Repairs to the railway line between Hereford and Abergavenny could take until Monday after flash floods washed away part of the tracks.

    The level of the River Severn in Worcester is continuing to rise this morning, according to the Environment Agency.

    There are three flood warnings,, external meaning flooding is expected, along the river through the city.

    The agency's Dave Throup said the Severn was at its highest , externalsince 2014 but added there were "no significant problems in the city".

    The river levels have already exceeded 4.4m said the Environment Agency, with possibly another half metre to come.

    "There are permanent defences in place," said Chris Bainger, "but there aren't temporary ones so there are one or two properties that I know of that will get affected."

    Care home residents rescued from rising floodwater at the weekend are all "safe and well", Herefordshire Council has said.

    Fire crews were called , externalto the Manor Rest Home, Lower Bullingham, near Hereford, at the weekend and rescued 18 residents.

    Today, the council says 17 of them are in temporary accommodation at another rest home, while one has returned to their own home.

    Water levels in Ironbridge, Shropshire are continuing tio rise.

    Temporary flood barriers installed yesterday are now set to be extended down to the Museum of the Gorge.

    Many of the surrounding paths are flooded, police say, with walkers being advised to take care around the River Severn.

    Frankwell car park is closed in Shrewsbury with the St Julian's Friars car park also partially closed.

    Customers are being advised to remove all vehicles, with one car "inundated" with water said the council.

    People in Hereford have been thanked by firefighters for keeping them "fed and watered" as they rescued people from floodwater at the weekend.

    Dozens of homes and roads were under water after the heavy rain and residents were rescued including from a care home.

    Parts of Stafford were under water over the weekend with the heavy rain.

    Places such as The Picture House pub and the Bengal Lounge Indian Restaurant reported flooding from the nearby River Sow.
