  1. Murder probe police investigate 'altercation with cyclist'published at 14:36 Greenwich Mean Time 1 November 2019

    Officers investigating the death of a man in a suspected stabbing say the murder could be linked to an altercation between the passenger of a car and a cyclist earlier in the day.

    Officers were called to reports of a man with suspected stab injuries in Meadow Road, Rugby at 18:00 on Thursday, Warwickshire Police said.

    Insp Karl Faulner, from the force, said: “As part of the investigation, we’re also appealing to anyone who may have witnessed a possible altercation in the bridge area of Parkfield Road at around 17:10 yesterday, involving the passenger of a car and a cyclist.“This is currently a line of enquiry and we would ask any witnesses or motorists with dashcam footage to please make contact.

    Two boys aged 16 and 17 who were both arrested on suspicion of murder remain in police custody.A post-mortem examination and formal identification are due to take place.

    One lane remains closed on the M42 northbound between J5 and J6 following a crash.

    Traffic was already slow due to residual delays following the earlier crash on the Northbound M6.

    All lanes have now reopened on the M6 after an accident investigation has been carried out.

    With Children in Need fast approaching, the charity has revealed it is helping to support almost 300 projects in the West Midlands.

    This year's event will take place on 15 November, culminating with a special show on BBC One from 19:30.

    For the whole of the West Midlands, 289 projects are currently being funded with almost £16.7m.

    They include funding for tackling abuse and neglect, supporting children with behavioral difficulties, as well as those with disabilities and mental health and emotional problems.

    A teenager's been arrested on suspicion of arson after several car fires in part of Telford.

    Then, at 03:45 today, officers said a car and van were set on fire in Brackenfield.

    The 17-year-old boy is currently in custody.

    A railway line's set to reopen tomorrow after flooding washed away parts of the track at the weekend.

    The route between Hereford and Abergavenny suffered "significant damage" at Pontrilas, Network Rail said.

    Rail replacement buses are in operation as 500 tonnes of ballast and 300 tonnes of foundations are replaced.

    A man has been arrested following a knifepoint robbery at a shop in Arley.

    The 34-year-old from Birmingham was detained on a bus in Camp Hill Road after the Gun Hill shop was targeted on Thursday.

    The suspect has been bailed while inquiries continue, said Warwickshire Police.

    Stoke City have reportedly come close already this season to sacking manager Nathan Jones before parting company today.

    With 14 games gone in the Championship, the Potters are joint-bottom with just two wins and four points off safety.

    He appeared to buy himself more time last month with two straight victories but followed that with two defeats.

    Welshman Jones had been in charge after succeeding the sacked Gary Rowett in January. It followed a highly successful spell at Luton, in which he left the Hatters second in the third tier.

    A home owner disturbed offenders burgling her house in Bennetts Road North on Monday, before they fled in a stolen vehicle, police said.

    Despite water levels falling along the River Severn in the past couple of days, there's still a risk of more flooding over the weekend, the Environment Agency has warned.

    It's expecting more rain over the weekend, external and expects river levels to stay high until Sunday.

    Earlier this week, the entire English stretch of the River Severn was covered by flood warnings, including Shropshire and Worcestershire, after a lot of rain last weekend.

    The Herefordshire tributary River Wye was also at its highest level since 1998.
