    Five people were arrested after raids at houses in Atherstone and Hartshill this morning.

    Warwickshire Police said they recovered what they believed to be Class A drugs from a property on Stratford Avenue, Atherstone, along with a vehicle thought to be stolen.

    Officers also targeted a house on Atherstone Road in Hartshill.

    The force said two 18-year-olds and a 17-year-old were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences and theft of a motor vehicle.

    A man from Atherstone was arrested on suspicion of theft, and a woman, also from the area, was arrested on suspicion of theft and being concerned in supplying a controlled drug.

    There are delays of at least an hour on the M6 this evening following a multi-vehicle crash.

    It happened on the northbound carriageway between junction 12 for Cannock and 13 for Stafford. It's believed a lorry, van and two cars are involved.

    Traffic was temporarily held on the route. Emergency services are at the scene and one lane has been reopened.

    Around 50 litres of oil have been spilled.

    A man who was struck by a car while crossing a road has died in hospital.

    Francis Wright suffered serious head injuries in the collision on 28 October on Himley Road, Dudley, West Midlands Police said. , external

    The 76-year-old, from Dudley, died in hospital yesterday morning.

    The force said the driver of the Kia Venga involved remained at the scene at the time and was co-operating fully with officers.

    Plans to close a golf course and turn it into a public park and a site for a new school and homes are going out for consultation this week.

    Sandwell Council says Brandhall Golf Course, Oldbury, costs £257,000 to run annually and needs £3m spending on it to upgrade to required standards., external

    It also currently has 318 members, nearly two-thirds of whom live outside Sandwell, the authority adds.

    Six weeks of consultation on its future will start tomorrow with a decision expected in the new year.

    A replica house will be built at Stratford-upon-Avon's fire station to allow firefighters to hone their skills.

    Warwickshire county councillors approved the plans for the two-storey structure, next to the Masons Road base, after hearing firefighters currently have to travel elsewhere to train.

    Paw Patrol is on a roll in Birmingham this Christmas.

    Visitors are being encouraged to follow a trail around the city centre to see 21 statues built out of plastic bricks, featuring some of the characters from the children's TV series.

    They've come from the Brick Live event, which has just finished at the NEC, with the largest sculpture using 141,000 bricks.

    Shrewsbury Town manager Sam Ricketts said he "had a little feeling" Joe Murphy would save a second half penalty against Peterborough last night.

    Murphy was given his first start of the season after Max O'Leary failed to recover from an ankle injury and the save helped Shrewsbury to a 1-0 win.

    New CCTV images have been released by police investigating the killing of Fidel Glasgow.

    The 21-year-old died after being stabbed near Club M nightclub in Coventry on 1 September 2018.

    Mr Glasgow was the grandson of The Specials singer Neville Staple.

    Police are trying to trace the driver of a car who may have witnessed a serious sexual assault.

    A woman in her 30s was attacked last night in Hanley Park, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire Police said.

    The driver officers wish to contact is a potential witness and not a suspect, the force stresses. Police said he was in a silver Peugeot hatchback at the junction of Avenue Road and Stoke Road.

    Officers are also checking CCTV footage and appealing for anyone with dashcam video of the area at about 18:15 to contact them.
