    There are now more than 100 schools closed across the West Midlands.

    That includes 61 shut or about to close in Worcestershire, external, 27 in Warwickshire, external, 18 in Herefordshire, external and nine in Shropshire., external

    In some cases it's because the school itself is affected, but in many cases it's because of flooding on surrounding roads.

    And parents are being advised to look out for more closures on Friday.

    Only farm vehicles are able to get between Shobdon and Presteigne now, because of the flooding in Herefordshire.

    Some rivers in the West Midlands aren't currently covered by Environment Agency flood alerts but levels are still high.

    Drivers who have parked in Pitchcroft car park, Worcester, are being advised to move vehicles as soon as possible as it's starting to flood.

    There's space in St Martinsgate car park as an alternative, said the city council.

    This is the B4352 between Madeley and Clehonger in Herefordshire.

    The council is warning there could be debris, road damage and missing drain covers below water level and is telling drivers to avoid it.

    And the council has said the B4348 between Peterchurch and Dorstone is at least 30cm (12in) deep over a 50m stretch and is asking people not to attempt to drive through it.

    The River Severn in Shrewsbury is expected to rise to about 3.6m and while the Frankwell car park will remain open on Thursday, Shropshire Council plans to shut it tonight.

    Yesterday, low level flood barriers were set up alongside the river and this is the view from Shropshire Council's webcam, by the Theatre Severn.

    A water pump is being used in Upton-upon-Severn, Worcestershire, to remove standing water, said the Environment Agency.

    The pump is being used to get water away from the dry side of New Street, it said.

    Flood defences have been put up in the town with a flood warning in place for the River Severn and Hanley Road.

  14. Properties expected to flood, warns Environment Agencypublished at 12:15 Greenwich Mean Time 14 November 2019

    Rivers are currently rising in many parts of Warwickshire and some properties are expected to flood, according to the Environment Agency.

    Levels have risen at the Shipston river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall.

    Consequently flooding may affect properties later in:

    • Halford
    • Newbold-on-Stour
    • Crimscote
    • Alderminster
    • Preston-on-Stour
    • Ailstone
    • Atherstone-on-Stour
    • Clifford Chambers

    Three flood warnings have been issued for the River Dene and Stour with 20 flood alerts in place in the county.

    Bus replacement services are running between Shirley and Stratford-upon-Avon due to heavy flooding on the rail lines at Wilmcote.

    Three cars have been pulled out of this road in Herefordshire and the council is asking drivers to stop using Bury Lane, at Wigmore.

    More roads are being closed in Herefordshire as the flooding worsens.

    This is the A438 at Portwaym and the council is asking drivers to avoid it if possible.

    And this is the current situation at Maund Bryan, on the A417.

    The road there is now closed after two vehicles became became stuck and vehicles were seen crossing on to the wrong side of the road, to avoid water on a bend.

    Drivers had to be rescued from flood water in Sambourne, near Coughton, in Warwickshire.
