    The use of drive-through testing for coronavirus has been paused in Shropshire due to government directives to "focus on in-hospital testing," said Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust.

    A resident of a retirement home in Shrewsbury died after testing positive for Covid-19 on Friday.

    The testing centre had opened in Shrewsbury, and another was planned for Telford.

    A mini sausage dog puppy was rescued after getting trapped under a steel container.

    Peewee got trapped under the 40ft (12m) container, and it took two hours to get him out, said the fire service.

    "He would have died without their help," said owner Amanda Darby.

    "We cannot thank them enough."

    The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) is among many theatres in the West Midlands to shut after PM Boris Johnson advised people to avoid such venues.

    "You should avoid pubs, clubs, theatres and other such social venues," he said.

    However, he stopped short of forcing venues to close, leaving some in the affected industries in limbo.

    The closure will be for an "undetermined period of time," said the RSC, and includes all activity at the Stratford-upom-Avon theatres as well as productions on tour.

    Boris Johnson has urged everyone to avoid unnecessary social contact, only travel if necessary and to stay away from pubs, clubs and restaurants.

    The Labour MP for Birmingham Yardley, Jess Phillips, told the Commons it looked as though her brother, an agency worker who has had to self-isolate, could lose his job as a result.

    Construction company JCB has confirmed one of its UK-based employees has tested positive for Covid-19 and is currently being treated in hospital.

    In an email to all staff the Staffordshire-based company's CEO, Graeme Macdonald, described it as a "worrying development".

    He said all necessary steps are being taken to provide support to those who worked closely with the individual concerned.

    Dudley Council has cancelled all public meetings as the authority steps up work to delay the spread of coronavirus.

    The council said it has taken the decision in the light of “significant steps to protect residents and council staff”.

    Two patients have died in Dudley after being tested positive for Covid-19.

    Council leader Patrick Harley said: "The business of the council will carry on as normal as possible, with only essential face-to-face meetings taking place where cancelling them is unavoidable.”

    Investigations are continuing after two women were stabbed to death in neighbouring houses.

    Police said a 43-year-old woman was found with stab wounds in Belle Walk, Moseley, Birmingham on Monday morning. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

    A second woman, aged 52, was found in a house next door with serious injuries and died shortly afterwards.

    A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
