    It's a "certainty" more front line NHS staff in the West Midlands will die from coronavirus, an NHS boss has warned.

    Toby Lewis, chief executive of the Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, was speaking after the death of Walsall nurse Areema Nasreen who had coronavirus.

    The 36-year-old had spent weeks in intensive care at Walsall Manor Hospital.

    Mr Lewis, who spoke at a weekly briefing, paid tribute to Ms Nasreen but said it is "with the greatest regret, I think that is a certainty" the death toll will rise among health workers.

    “It’s clear from overseas that healthcare workers are at risk. They are at risk not only from the patients that we look after, but from each other," he said.

    Garden waste collections in Coventry have been suspended for at least the next two weeks.

    The city council said this meant food waste would have to go in the household waste bins for the time being, unless it can be composted at home.

    Requests for new bins, bulky waste collections and bin repairs remain suspended too.

    The council also warned there may be some delays to household waste and recycling collections as crews settle into a new way of working and asked people to be patient.

    North Warwickshire Borough Council announced today that it is also suspending green waste collections for the rest of the month at least.

    Other collections will continue as normal.

    A Birmingham school has said it's important it stays open over the Easter holidays so key workers can keep doing their roles.

    Since the lockdown began, Waverley School has been opening for around 15 pupils each day rather than their usual 2000.

    Chief executive Kamal Hanif said they're expecting that to continue next week in the run up to Good Friday and Easter Monday.

    "We're remaining open to make sure we're providing support to those children so their parents can go in and do those key roles," he said.

    Nick Page, of the West Midlands and Warwickshire strategic co-ordination group, told a regional meeting today there would be a "mock up" running on 10 April, with patients being admitted two days later.

    People in Herefordshire are being asked to return their unwanted medical equipment to the NHS.

    Herefordshire Council said as more patients are discharged from their hospital to recover at home, demand for equipment such as specialist beds, mattresses and toileting equipment will increase.
