Tuck shop proceeds have been used by police to deliver support parcels to local care homes and schools during the lockdown.

This police pup has been named Royal, after the hospital which successfully treated a West Midlands police officer for coronavirus.

Ch Supt Phil Dolby spent 13 days on a ventilator at the Worcester Royal Hospital, before being discharged last week.

The puppy belongs to West Midlands Police, the force Ch Supt Dolby works for, and police staff chose the name to thank all the NHS staff there who helped save his life.

The Belgrade Theatre in Coventry is running a weekly quiz during the lockdown.

This week's theme is pantomime and runs from 19:00.

Garden waste collections have resumed in Coventry, the city council has said.

The service had been suspended while crews dealt with the impact of coronavirus but began again today.

Previously, the authority had advised people to compost their garden waste at home or bag it up and store it at the rear of their properties.

BBC Make A Difference

Rugby School is offering an NHS worker the chance to win a wedding in its grounds worth more than £10,000.

The competition is open to any NHS member of staff working on the frontline of the coronavirus pandemic, with the wedding itself to take place in February 2021, the school said.

It hopes the competition will help recognise the "heroes who work within this caring environment every day, especially in these really challenging times," the school said on its Facebook page.

The coronavirus outbreak is likely to slow down plans to deal with Coventry's pollution.

The city council has extended the time people have to respond to its plans, which include cleaner buses and taxis, more cycle routes and changes to road layouts.

The council has been given almost £25m to introduce the schemes once the decisions have been made.

Scrub Hub South Birmingham is a growing group of volunteers getting together to make scrubs for medical professionals who are finding it difficult to get them in the usual way - be they in hospitals, care homes, doctors surgeries or anywhere else.

More than 200 volunteers have signed up and more than half have actively started sewing.

And it's only one of a number of similar schemes around thearea and the country under the same banner, external.

But they're looking not only for more people to join in, but donations to buy the material they need to make these items.

Police have issued pictures of a woman they would like to speak to.

Last Tuesday, a 70-year-old woman in Nuneaton was contacted over the phone by a man purporting to be a police officer who advised her to withdraw her money as criminals had accessed her account.

In a later call, she was told the money she had withdrawn was fake and needed to be handed over to the police.

A courier then appeared to take the money.

Warwickshire Police said they wanted to talk to the woman pictured below as she could have important information which could help their investigation.

A 21-year-old man from Coventry has been arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation and released under investigation.

An independent illustrator and artist based in Castle Bromwich has created a range of NHS Hero thank you cards to raise money for those on the front line.

Eloise Holland said: "I think it's very easy at the moment to feel like a bit of a spare part, so I wanted to create something to make a small difference.

"I'm sending 100% of the sale to an NHS charity that provides tea, coffee, food and overnight bags for those on the front-line."

She said since creating them on Sunday, she's had "dozens and dozens of sales".

Ms Holland has also created some free colouring worksheets to help those stuck at home, which you can access here, external.

Another 64 coronavirus deaths have been reported at West Midlands hospitals.

It brings the total across the area to around 2,700 and hospital trusts in Birmingham, Coventry, Worcestershire and Walsall.

The sister of Eileen Landers says she "had a heart of gold and was the most generous person".

A multi-million pound cycling performance centre in Worcestershire has been forced to close permanently, less than two years after it opened.

The Boardman Performance Centre, based at The Valley in Evesham, was the idea of Olympic gold medallist Chris Boardman and was built by Halfords.

The company announced last month it was closing the centre because of coronavirus social distancing rules, along with its specialist cycling stores.

Yesterday it said it had decided to make the closure permanent, after carrying out a review.

It is looking for another operator to come along and buy the facility, which includes a wind tunnel which allows cyclists to test their aerodynamics and performance.

When a 92-year-old recovering from pneumonia needed help to get her TV repaired her family asked for help.

Daughter Janice contacted BBC CWR on Monday to say her bed-bound mother, also recovering from sepsis, had run out of reading material and needed help to repair her TV.

After a few calls, the station put the pair in touch with Doreen from Coventry Aerial Installations, external who was able to help.

"I'd like to say a great big thank you to everyone," Janice said.

Two women have shaved their heads in an attempt to raise money for children around the world affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

Claire Martin, who is 59 and her 71-year-old friend Sheila Martin, both from Coventry, are aiming to raise £2,626 for Global Care’s Children at Risk fund and have so far collected more than £1,600.

Fire crews at Kings Norton in Birmingham were among those who held a minute's silence this morning.

More than 100 NHS and care staff have died with the virus, as have many transport and other key workers.

The minute's silence was to remember them.
