The government has extended the furlough scheme to cover 80% of staff wages as it announced a new lockdown from Thursday.

But Cymone Wood, who runs Malvern Serenity, said that support didn't go far enough.

"Furlough helps us cover staff wages but in terms of actually paying bills for the premises and keeping it running it doesn't cover that so we do need some sort of extra help put in place," she said.

Mrs Wood also criticised the lockdown only forcing some firms to shut, like salons, pubs, restaurants and gyms, but allowing schools, colleges and universities to stay open.

"I would agree with it had they shut everything down because everything just needs to be shut down to reboot but there are still bits being kept open so there is a likelihood of an extension."
