    A Wolverhampton bar has lost its licence after showing a "severe and flagrant disregard” for Covid-19 regulations, said the city council.

    "Severe overcrowding and a complete lack of management to prevent the spread of infection" was found at Blossoms in North Street, the council said.

    "Multiple" breaches of licensing requirements and coronavirus regulations were witnessed at the bar in August and September the council added.

    A memorial statue commemorating the bravery of 19th Century Sikh soldiers is set to be created and placed at a Wolverhampton temple.

    Members of the City of Wolverhampton Council cabinet resources panel are expected to agree to transfer authority-owned land to the Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Well Lane, Wednesfield.

    The Sikh temple is looking to unveil the Saragarhi Monument, which will be sculpted by Black Country artist Luke Perry of Industrial Heritage Stronghold.

    The memorial statue will commemorate the Battle of Saragarhi, which was a conflict between Sikh soldiers and Afghan tribesmen on 12 September 1897.

    Caravan owners at a holiday park have said the new lockdown measures in England have put them at risk of becoming homeless.

    The Coppice Leisure Park, near Stourport-on-Severn, Worcestershire, has told its residents, some of whom live there most of the year, they must leave so the site can be closed.

    They said all customers were required to have another permanent address, but some said they had nowhere else to go.

    Dorothy Fletcher told the BBC she bought a lodge at the site for £120,000 in July.

    "When we bought this cabin we were told by the manager that we could use it as and when we wanted and there was no contract signed, it was just a verbal agreement," she said.

    The managing director of Hillandale Caravan Parks, Denis Lloyd Jones, said it had no choice but to close.

    "Our holiday homes are just that, holiday homes and customers are unable to live in them and they are well aware of that and they are well aware of our park rules," he said.

    Sixteen of the people at the park have been told they can stay but the rest have been told they must leave.

    A road linking Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme could be closed at peak times to reduce pollution levels and avoid a congestion charge zone.

    The government had told Stoke-on-Trent City Council and Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council they had to cut the level of nitrogen dioxide on the A53 Etruria Road.

    Staffordshire County Council, which is the highways authority for the borough, said the proposals would see the westbound side of the road closed from the A500 junction during the morning and evening rush hours. , external

    The lcoal authority said motorists would face a charging zone unless the traffic reduction plans were introduced by late 2022.

    The proposals will be examined by all three councils before going forward for a decision.

    A steering wheel used by Formula One legend Ayrton Senna and gifted to a Staffordshire man for his work with the Lotus team has sold for more than £5,000 at auction.

    The wheel, dating back to 1987, was given to 68-year-old Bob Preece, from Cannock, who worked in F1 for more than 20 years from the mid-1980s.

    The lot bears the inscription "Presented to Bob Preece for his help and co-operation in helping his friends at Team Lotus - Senna Imola 87".

    Rik Alexander from Derbyshire-based Hansons auction house, said Senna, who died at Imola in 1994, was the driver "that everybody remembers, he's the one that is that icon of Formula One".

    The Brazilian died aged 34 during the San Marino Grand Prix, where Mr Preece was given the steering wheel seven years earlier, Mr Alexander said.
