    Wolves captain Conor Coady has withdrawn from the England squad after coming into contact with someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.

    The defender is in isolation, which rules him out of the next two games for his country, but said he hopes to be back in time for Wolves’ game against Southampton next weekend.

    Coady also revealed he contracted the virus back in March before recovering.

    A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a woman was found at an address in Netherton this afternoon.

    West Midlands Police said officers were called to Crossley Street just before 12:40 and the 38-year-old remains in custody for questioning.

    At this stage, the force said the cause of death wasn't known and the scene had been sealed off while investigations were carried out.

    Local artists are being asked to help create a new mural at Coventry's railway station.

    The city council and Avanti West Coast want the murals outside platform four and by the car park and are also looking to decorate the windows and install new seating.

    It's all being done ahead of next year, when Coventry becomes the UK City of Culture.

    Coventry station is currently undergoing an £82m revamp.

    It will get a second footbridge, a second station entrance building, a 633-space multi-storey car park and improved accessibility.

    A former Solihull mayor was thrown in the air and suffered broken ribs after trying to stop a carjacking.

    Retired police officer Joe Tildesley, 67, said he rushed into the street when he heard screams last Thursday and stood in front of his neighbour's Audi as the thief tried to get away.

    His wife and his neighbour tried to open the doors, but the masked man sped off, knocking Mr Tildesley over.

    Warwick Hospital confirmed he had fractured his ribs, but he said he felt fortunate as it “could have been a lot worse".

    "It was a stupid thing to do at 67 years old and it will be the last time," he added.

    Three post boxes have been stolen from villages in Staffordshire.

    A Royal Mail driver reported two of them missing when he went out on his rounds in Yoxall yesterday

    The third was taken from Bancroft Lane in Nethertown, Rugeley.

    Staffordshire Police said the boxes could weigh more than a tonne, so a "fairly substantial piece of lifting equipment" would have been needed to steal them.

  16. Coventry City FC stadium plans 'progressing'published at 16:25 Greenwich Mean Time 12 November 2020

    Plans to return the Sky Blues to Coventry by building a new stadium in partnership with the University of Warwick are "progressing".

    The club says it intends to relocate to the south-west edge of the city and build on land owned by the university.

    The club left the Ricoh Arena in 2019 at the end of a long-running dispute.

    University leaders and the owners and management of the football club held a "productive and very positive formal meeting" according to the university.

    "The EFL have been updated regarding the positive steps that have been made and have welcomed the news," a spokesperson said.

    More details are not expected to be revealed until early 2021.
