    An emergency kit to control bleeding has been installed at the scene of a stabbing in Birmingham.

    The equipment has been placed on Hurst Street, where a woman was critically injured in a series of stabbings in the city in September.

    It follows a campaign by Lynne Baird, whose son Daniel, 26, was killed in a dispute outside a pub in the city in 2017.

    The bleed control cabinet is designed to prevent a catastrophic bleed while paramedics travel to the scene of a stabbing.

    It contains a tourniquet, bandages, scissors and gloves which can be used by members of the public, accessed through a code provided by the ambulance service.

    A locomotive derailed and was then hit by a passenger train after the driver became distracted by personal Covid-19 lockdown issues, a report has found.

    The 21:05 Cardiff Central to Birmingham New Street service collided with the locomotive on 23 March 2020 near Bromsgrove station, Worcestershire.

    The passenger train suffered significant damage along one side but the four passengers and two train crew were not hurt.

    The report by the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) , externalfound the locomotive derailed after running through a buffer stop at the end of a siding.

    It said the driver didn't stop it due to being distracted by "personal issues" and there wasn't enough time to raise the alarm before the crash.

    The RAIB has made one recommendation to Network Rail and three learning points for drivers including about compliance with mobile phone policies in the driving cab.

    A man has died after his car hit a tree in Birmingham.

    It's believed he suffered a medical emergency before the crash at the junction of Wake Green Road and Yardley Wood Road in the Moseley area of the city, said the ambulance service.

    The driver died at the scene, shortly before 06:00, it added.

    The funeral of Bishop Joshua Brookes will take place in Stafford later.

    Bishop Joshua served at the Mount Peniel Church Apostolic Church.

    He first came to the UK from Jamaica in 1956 settling in Dudley before moving to Stafford a year later.

    During his ministry he established several churches across the Midlands.

    He died on 29 October following a short illness.

    Rail services between Nuneaton and Leamington are being disrupted due to members of staff being unable to work due to the impact of Covid-19.

    The hourly service between the two Warwickshire towns will now run every two hours said West Midlands Railway.

    The temporary change has been made following an increase in the number of train crew unable to work, the company said.

    Buses will replace the services unable to run.

    A second mobile Covid-19 test centre will open in Hereford later after a rise in cases in the south of the city.

    The test site at Merton Meadow car park remains open and Herefordshire Council said , externalthe second will be on the Halo Hereford Leisure Pool car park on St Martin’s Avenue.

    Tests will be available from 10:30 until 15:30 for two weeks to begin with and people can book via the NHS 119 phone number or online.

    A 722-home city centre development has been granted planning permission in Birmingham.

    Councillors today voted to approve an application by Moda Living for a three-block development on the car park off Lionel Street.

    The tower blocks will range in height from 3 to 39 storeys, with the largest containing 120 units.

    The county council said it would use £2.2m from the government to pay for the scheme which will be aimed at families eligible for free school meals.

    It said it would also help children of adults who can show they are facing financial difficulties including due to Covid-19.
