A fresh warning of icy conditions across the West Midlands has been issued for this evening and tonight.

The Met Office has, external put out a yellow alert and said there could be injuries from slips and falls along with travel disruption.

The warning runs from 18:00 today until 10:00 on Tuesday.

Some footpaths will be cleared in Birmingham by city council staff today.

The local authority said , externalit would be working to treat priority paths including clearing snow as well as sending out gritters.

Two Covid-19 testing centres in Birmingham remain closed today because of the icy weather.

The sites at Castle Vale Stadium and Maypole Youth Centre shut yesterday but the city council said the closure decision would be reviewed each hour., external

However the test centre at the Arcadian Centre has reopened after being closed on Sunday during the snow.

The number of places having their bin collections cancelled today due to the wintry weather is increasing.

Sandwell Council said, external pavement and road conditions have forced them to suspend household waste collections and recycling collections have already been suspended due to staff shortages.

In Walsall, external, Wolverhampton, external and the Staffordshire Moorlands, external, local councils said collections would continue but warned of disruption away from main, treated roads.
