    Sky Blues boss Mark Robins was full of praise for his side as they beat their fellow strugglers with a vital victory.

    Coventry took the lead when Leo Ostigard powered in a header that took a deflection on its way past Millers goalkeeper Viktor Johansson.

    Robins' men are now up to 18th: "It gives us a boost. It's huge and it gives us confidence. The level of performance was up there."

    At his funeral on Saturday the Duke of Edinburgh's coffin will be carried on a modified Jaguar Land Rover that the duke himself helped design.

    The Defender was made at the Land Rover's factory in Solihull in 2003 and the duke oversaw the modifications, including the open top rear section where his coffin will rest.

    The duke used Land Rovers throughout his adult life and accompanied the Queen when she opened the company's Engine Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton in 2014.

    A fire in a garden in Birmingham is being investigated as a possible case of arson.

    West Midlands Police said, external the fire on Weeford Drive, Handsworth Wood, at about 21:50 on Thursday could have been started deliberately.

    Officers said no-one was hurt inside the house and no major damage was caused.

    The end of lockdown has come just in time for the Ludlow Brewing Company to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

    The company said it hopes to be back up to full capacity by the summer and there were customers waiting outside for tables when it reopened on Monday.

    The company converted a Victorian railway shed in to a site capable of brewing 25,000 pints a week with a bar and stage.

    The restoration took two years to complete using renewable technologies including underfloor heating fuelled by heat from the brewing process.

    Owner Gary Walters said it had been "an eventful ten years" and added: "The brewery was going from strength to strength up until the pandemic; but the last year has been a rollercoaster."

    An emergency mortuary in a Birmingham Airport hangar will remain on standby until the end of summer.

    The facility, with capacity to store to 1,500 bodies, reopened in February amid the second wave of Covid-19.

    With the infection rates having now fallen to their lowest level in months, emergency planners have confirmed the Solihull site is to be mothballed at the end of this week.

    But there are no plans to dismantle it for over another four months, said West Midlands Police.

    Plans for a 51-storey tower block in Birmingham have been approved.

    The One Eastside development was originally approved in April 2020 but had to go back before the planning committee after it emerged an objection was not included in a report to councillors.

    The building will have 667 apartments to rent, residential gardens and courtyards, a gym, cinema and sky lounge project at the corner of James Watt Queensway and Jennens Road.

  19. Bike stand installations ahead of hire schemepublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 15 April 2021

    Bike stands are being installed around Stourbridge town centre ahead of a new cycle hire scheme being introduced later this month.

    They will be available in and around the town with docking stations at spots including Stourbridge Bus Station, near The Bonded Warehouse and in the town centre.

    The bikes can be hired using the Beryl Cycle Hire app, which will include Covid safety advice.

    The West Midlands Cycle Hire scheme is running in other parts of the region including Wolverhampton and Coventry

    It costs £1 to unlock a bike and 5p per minute afterwards.

    British number one Dan Evans claimed the biggest win of his career by beating Novak Djokovic in the last 16 of the Monte Carlo Masters.

    Evans, from Birmingham, who has struggled on clay in recent times, started superbly against the world number one, breaking him in his first two service games.

    He was able to wrap up the opening set before Djokovic fought back at the start of the second.

    But Evans recovered and held his nerve to wrap up a 6-4 7-5 win.
