A new student development in Coventry is to be used as apartments after sitting empty for a year during the coronavirus.
A temporary change of use has been agreed for Greyfriars House to operate as both student accommodation and serviced apartments until September 2022.
The site, on Greyfriars Lane, in the city centre, was only recently renovated with an additional two storeys to create 36 student flats, taking its total capacity to 96 bedrooms.
Work was completed in February 2020 but developers Blue Bear Management Ltd said it has remained unoccupied ever since, with an “unprecedented degree of disruption” from the pandemic resulting in “lower demand” for student places.

The video assistant referee could not reverse an offside decision which cost West Brom a goal against Southampton because officials could not find a definitive camera angle.
Mbaye Diagne thought he had scored when he flicked Darnell Furlong's shot into the net - but it was flagged offside.
Replays suggested it was Kyle Bartley who was offside rather than Diagne.
However, the VAR could not determine whether Diagne was offside, so the on-field decision remained.
The incident happened with the game evenly poised at 0-0 but the Baggies made sure the early misfortune did not damage their survival bid as they ran out comfortable 3-0 winners.

West Bromwich Albion moved to within eight points of fourth-bottom Newcastle in the Premier League last night, with a 3-0 win over Southampton at The Hawthorns.
The Baggies had an early goal controversially ruled out by VAR, before a Matheus Pereira penalty and a quickfire second from Matt Phillips saw them lead 2-0 at half-time.
Sam Allardyce said the side are "pricking up people's ears" after they made it back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time this season with the victory.
"It is one of many top quality performances over the past eight or 10 games but we haven't received the credit because we didn't win," Allardyce said.
"We have missed out on many points due to our poor finishing."
It will be a dry and sunny day with some cloud later and highs of 12°C (54°F).
