Three 18-year-old women have been arrested after police said a group of up to 10 teenagers attacked a man in a bid to steal his bike.
West Mercia Police said the man was attacked near Castle Walk in Shrewsbury when he was out with his daughter at about 20:30 BST on Tuesday.
He suffered injuries to his face that required hospital treatment, the force added.
Two of the women, from Shrewsbury, have been held on suspicion of robbery and the third, also from Shrewsbury, on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm.
Police are stepping up patrols in Wythall and Drakes Cross after reports of anti-social behaviour in the area.
West Mercia Police said a group of youths reportedly threw eggs and flour at local bars as well as motorists and passers-by on Tuesday evening.
Officers were also deployed to Wythall park at about 16:30 BST where a group of teenagers were allegedly being abusive towards other children and their parents.
“I am aware of the levels of concern within the community following this completely unacceptable behaviour yesterday afternoon and would like to reassure local residents that we are treating it extremely seriously," Insp Lee Page said.
A further case of the South Africa coronavirus variant has been found in Birmingham, prompting surge testing in the area.
Birmingham City Council is working with NHS Test and Trace in Alum Rock, Glebe Farm and Tile Cross wards.
The confirmed case has self-isolated and is not thought to be linked to a case previously found in the city or neighbouring Sandwell.
Residents aged 16 years and over in the area are strongly encouraged to take a Covid-19 PCR test, whether they are showing symptoms or not.
Firefighters are tackling a blaze involving a large pile of fly-tipped rubbish at a Severn Trent Water site.
West Midlands Fire Service said crews would be at the site on Anson Road in Willenhall "for some time" and urged people to avoid the area.
It added that smoke could be seen from as far afield as the Black Country Route.
In a Tweet, crews from Brierley Hill Fire Station said: "Fly tipping is illegal and this has caused 9 fire engines across the West Midlands to attend, preventing us from protecting members of the community that really need our help".

A woman has admitted murdering another woman whose remains were found in suitcases in the Forest of Dean.
The Crown Prosecution Service said Gareeca Gordon murdered Phoenix Netts on 16 April in the shared accommodation property where they both lived in Birmingham.
"She contacted friends and family of the victim by messages, emails and sometimes voice calls, pretending to be her and indicating that she was leaving the address and moving to London," a CPS spokesperson said.
"She also purchased a circular saw to dismember the victim's body."
Senior prosecutor Lesley Milner said it was a "truly gruesome crime".
"Our thoughts today are with the family and friends of Phoenix Netts for their tragic loss."
A Coventry MP has called on the government to "make history" by making the UK the first country in the world to ban the importation and sale of fur.
Taiwo Owatemi, the Labour member for Coventry North West, said Brexit allowed Britain to put an end to "double standards" as an independent trader.
She said the UK had been the first country to ban fur farming more than 20 years ago, but, due to being an EU member, had continued to import and sell the products.
"But now as an independent trading nation we have the opportunity to eliminate that double standard and once again to make history by becoming the first country in the world to ban the importation and sale of fur," she said.
The Fur Trade (Prohibition) Bill was listed for a second reading tomorrow, but is unlikely to become law due to a lack of parliamentary time.
