Exempting supermarket depot workers and food manufacturers from quarantine rules could have been done sooner, according to the boss of a chilled foods distributor.

"This is a bit late in the day because a lot of damage has already been done across the network which is going to take some catching up on," he said.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after a 76-year-old woman died in a crash in Harborne, West Midlands Police said.
The woman, it said, was driving a Skoda Fabia which was involved in a collision with a silver Renault Scenic on Northfield Road, at the junction with Wentworth Way at 16:15 BST.
A 36-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of driving while disqualified, and has been released from custody while investigations continue, the force added.
