    Electric buses, bikes, coaches and boats will be among hundreds of vehicles on show at the British Motor Museum in Gaydon on Saturday.

    Well-wishers have responded in droves to a police officer's request for prayers for his teenage son who has suffered a head injury.

    Ch Supt Phil Dolby of West Midlands Police was seriously ill with coronavirus last year and said while he was ill, people "kindly prayed" for him and he believed it made a "difference".

    His appeal on social media for continued support has so far received more than 2,000 comments, with a flood of people sending good wishes.

    Mr Dolby said on Twitter he was unsure of the extent of his son's injuries, caused by an accident.

    Police have appealed for witnesses to the crash which happened last month

    The man in his 50s was driving a Bentley Continental convertible when the collision happened on the roundabout linking the A458 and B4364 at Bridgnorth just after 21:30 BST on 1 July, West Mercia Police said.

    He died on 30 July, the force has revealed, making an appeal for witnesses.

    Great Britain's Joe Fraser has finished eighth in the men's parallel bars final.

    The 22-year-old from Birmingham is the reigning world champion, but his score of 14.500 saw him finish the event in eighth position.

    Speaking after his performance he said: "I was slightly disappointed today, it was such a tight final anyway.

    "Today wasn't my day and that is OK, being on the floor with such amazing athletes. The top eight in the world is incredible.

    "I know today wasn't my day but hopefully, I can get back in the gym and will improve that in the future."

    He added: "I am so excited about the future, I know as soon as I get back in the gym, there are lots of things I want to do.

    "Every time I come to a major event it is so inspiring, seeing some of the elements that these guys are doing.

    "I want to do that and I want everyone in the team to do that, so we are definitely going to get into the gym, work as hard as we can, because we know we can do a lot."

    Fire crews attended a severe blaze on Washwood Heath Road, Birmingham, earlier this morning.

    Firefighters were called at about 04:45 to reports a shop frontage was on fire.

    The flames were extinguished and adjacent homes and businesses were protected, West Midlands Fire and Rescue Service said., external

    The blaze involved an end terrace building, which had a ground-floor convenience store and a flat above.

    All persons were accounted for, the service added, saying it left the scene at about 07:50.

    Floral tributes have been left outside Birmingham's New Street station after a fatal attack in the early hours of Saturday.

    A 33-year-old man was found seriously injured on Stephenson Street at about 02:00 BST and later died in hospital, West Midlands Police said.

    A man was arrested on suspicion of assault but was released pending further inquiries.

    A man escaped police officers on Sunday night while he was wearing handcuffs.

    The West Midlands force said he was one of three men arrested in a car in Birmingham on suspicion of assault.

    They were being held on Vaughton Street South, near Highgate, just after 19:00 BST before the man fled from police along Belgrave Middleway. He was last seen a short while later on Bradford Street.

    The force said the suspect was still wearing handcuffs as he made off.
