    The M6 motorway in Cheshire is likely to remain closed for a considerable time after a man suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash involving three vehicles.

    Emergency services remain at the scene following the collision at 04:15 BST.

    The southbound motorway is closed between junction 19 at Knutsford and junction 20 at Lymm with motorists facing delays of more than an hour.

    A man who died in hospital after collapsing in Birmingham is the subject of a police appeal for help to identify him.

    He was discovered on Soho Road on 6 August, and was taken to City Hospital, police said.

    Before he died, the man, believed to be Polish, told nurses his name was Mariusz and that he was 51.

    His death isn't being treated as suspicious but authorities wish to establish his identity to inform next of kin, police say.

    They have released images of clothes he was wearing in the hope someone will recognise them.

    The new owners of Wolverhampton's Beatties department store building are looking to secure a contractor after plans to turn it into flats were approved.

    Private investor SSYS Beatties Ltd bought the building for £3m in February.

    Wolverhampton City Council said work to transform the site into 150 new homes was due to begin in 2022.

    The store was opened by James Beattie as a draper's shop in 1877 and remained in the family until House of Fraser took over in 2005.

  6. Fire alarm malfunction shuts leisure centrepublished at 11:13 British Summer Time 13 August 2021

    A fire alarm malfunction has forced the Abbey Stadium leisure centre in Redditch to close until further notice.

    The centre said that despite regular maintenance, the fire detection system had failed and the responsible thing to do was to wait for a new one to be installed.

    The leisure centre is one of the biggest in Worcestershire and has a swimming pool, gym, sports hall and football pitches.

    It is run by a company set up by Redditch Borough Council called Rubicon Leisure.

    Olympic flyweight boxing champion Galal Yafai has paid tribute to his Birmingham family for helping him achieve his gold medal.

    His older brothers Kal and Gamal Yafai are professional boxers. "They were pushing me and supporting me," he told BBC Breakfast.

    "My mum and friends - they were all there to help me," added the former car factory worker.

    Louis Robles scored early against Viktoria Plzen to extend the lead to 5-2, but the Czech side equalised early in the second half and then scored twice late in the game to take the tie to extra time.

    TNS then missed their first two penalties in the shootout to send their opponents through.
