    BBC Radio Shropshire

The group trying to buy a house on the Wrekin said they are determined to raise the cash to keep it for the local community.

The Halfway House has provided refreshments to thousands of walkers over its 150-year history as a café on the Shropshire hill.

It is on the market for just under £600,000.

It is still a huge amount of money...we wouldn't just need the asking price, we'd need to make various improvements to the property. Our fear is that a private purchaser will come along, pay the asking price, put up a 6ft high fence and the public will no longer be allowed in and if that happens then we no longer have a centre for refreshment."
